Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Instructor Jobs at Savannah Chatham County Public School System Jobs
Get Your Credentials Evaluated Early
Georgia public schools require state teaching certification, and foreign degrees often need a credential evaluation before the state will process your application. Use a NACES-approved evaluator so your documents are ready before you apply.
Target Subject Areas With Persistent Shortages
Savannah Chatham actively recruits for hard-to-fill subjects like special education, STEM, and bilingual instruction. Framing your application around these shortage areas strengthens your case for sponsorship, since the district has stronger justification for the PERM labor market test.
Understand How TN Status Applies to Teachers
Canadian and Mexican educators can enter on TN status for qualifying Instructor roles tied to a degree in the relevant subject. Confirm your job offer letter specifies a title and duties that align with the TN teacher category before accepting.
Ask HR About Their H-1B Filing Timeline
USCIS H-1B cap filings open in March with an October 1 start date. If your offer comes after the lottery closes, ask whether the district will file for the next cap season or pursue a cap-exempt route through a qualifying educational institution.

Find Instructor at Savannah Chatham County Public School System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Savannah Chatham County Public School System sponsor H-1B visas for Instructors?
Yes. Savannah Chatham County Public School System has a consistent record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Instructor roles. As a public school district, it qualifies as a government-affiliated educational institution, which can make it eligible for cap-exempt H-1B filings in some cases. Confirm cap-exempt status directly with the district's HR team before assuming it applies to your specific position.
How do I apply for Instructor jobs at Savannah Chatham County Public School System?
Applications go through the district's official careers portal, where open Instructor positions are listed by subject area and school. You can also find sponsorship-friendly openings on Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa type so you can identify positions where international candidates are actively considered. Having your Georgia teaching certification application underway before you apply strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types does Savannah Chatham County Public School System use for Instructor roles?
The district sponsors H-1B visas for most Instructor hires, and also supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification for longer-term placements. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status if their Instructor role and degree field meet the category requirements. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific role.
What qualifications does Savannah Chatham County Public School System expect for Instructor positions?
Most Instructor roles require a bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area and an active or pending Georgia educator certification. Foreign credentials need evaluation by a NACES-approved service before the state will process your certification. Subject areas with documented teacher shortages, including special education and STEM, tend to have more flexible timelines while certification is being finalized.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Instructor roles at Savannah Chatham County Public School System?
H-1B processing through USCIS typically takes three to six months with standard service, or two to four weeks with premium processing. If the district pursues a Green Card through PERM, expect 12 to 24 months before the petition is filed. Starting the conversation with HR before you accept an offer gives you the clearest picture of what timeline to plan around.
