Align your resume to Broadcom's hardware stack
Broadcom's Electrical Engineer postings frequently emphasize mixed-signal design, high-speed PCB layout, and SerDes expertise. Tailor your resume to mirror this language before applying, so your profile clears automated screening for these specific technical domains.
Clarify your visa status early in outreach
Broadcom's recruiting teams handle complex sponsorship pipelines regularly. Stating your visa status and timeline upfront, whether you're on F-1 OPT or a TN, lets recruiters route you to the right hiring manager without delays caused by last-minute compliance reviews.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Electrical Engineer roles
Broadcom posts Electrical Engineer openings across multiple business units, and vacancies can close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to browse current listings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're targeting active roles rather than outdated postings.
Prepare documentation for DOL's prevailing wage process
For H-1B filings, Broadcom's legal team files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS submission. Having your degree transcripts, credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and employment verification letters ready accelerates this stage significantly.
Target roles that map to your degree field precisely
H-1B specialty occupation rules require a direct relationship between your degree field and the role. A postings requiring electrical or computer engineering backgrounds will support your petition more cleanly than adjacent titles, reducing the risk of a USCIS Request for Evidence.

Does Broadcom sponsor H-1B visas for Electrical Engineers?
Yes, Broadcom sponsors H-1B visas for Electrical Engineer roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file Labor Condition Applications with the DOL and submit H-1B petitions to USCIS during the annual cap season. Candidates on F-1 OPT or expiring TN status who receive offers should confirm sponsorship intent with the recruiter during the offer stage, not after signing.
How do I apply for Electrical Engineer jobs at Broadcom?
Applications are submitted through Broadcom's careers portal. Search by engineering discipline or specific technical keywords like ASIC design, signal integrity, or PCB layout to surface relevant roles. You can also browse Electrical Engineer openings at Broadcom filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which is useful if you want to quickly identify active roles before applying directly.
Which visa types does Broadcom commonly use for Electrical Engineer hires?
Broadcom supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for Electrical Engineers. H-1B is the most common long-term work authorization path for this role. TN may apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose degree and job duties align with the USMCA's engineer category. CPT is typically used for intern or co-op placements.
What qualifications does Broadcom expect for Electrical Engineer roles?
Most Electrical Engineer postings at Broadcom require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field, with many senior roles expecting a master's or Ph.D. Practical experience in areas like VLSI design, mixed-signal circuits, high-speed interfaces, or embedded systems is commonly required. For visa purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the specific role description to satisfy H-1B specialty occupation requirements.
How do I think about timing if I need Broadcom to sponsor my H-1B?
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS accepting registrations in March and the employment start date set for October 1. If you're finishing OPT or a STEM extension, map your authorization end date against this calendar. If your OPT expires before October 1, ask Broadcom's immigration team whether a cap-exempt filing or a cap-gap provision under your F-1 status applies to your situation.
