Target roles aligned with their mission
Common Sense Media hires around its core work in media literacy, digital citizenship, and education technology. Focus your application on roles where your background directly serves families, educators, or content evaluation, these are the positions most likely to support sponsorship.
Understand the H-1B1 pathway

Highlight mission alignment in your cover letter
Nonprofits like Common Sense Media weigh cultural fit heavily. Demonstrate genuine familiarity with their programs, reviews platform, education advocacy, or digital well-being research, and explain why you want to work in this sector specifically, not just in the U.S.

Does Common Sense Media sponsor H-1B visas?
Common Sense Media's documented sponsorship activity is in the H-1B1 category rather than the standard H-1B. The H-1B1 is available exclusively to nationals of Singapore and Chile. If you are from a different country and need H-1B sponsorship, it is worth asking the hiring team directly, as sponsorship decisions can vary by role and organizational need.
What visa types does Common Sense Media sponsor?
Common Sense Media has sponsored the H-1B1 visa, which is a specialty occupation visa available only to Singaporean and Chilean nationals. This makes them a more targeted sponsorship option compared to employers who sponsor the full range of work visa categories. Applicants from other countries should inquire directly about what pathways the organization can support for their specific situation.
Which departments or roles at Common Sense Media are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Roles that align closely with Common Sense Media's mission tend to be the strongest candidates for sponsorship. These include positions in education technology, curriculum and content development, research, product, and engineering. The organization's work in digital literacy and family-focused media means that candidates with specialized expertise in education or technology policy may have stronger standing.
How do I apply to Common Sense Media if I need visa sponsorship?
Start by identifying open roles that match your background on Common Sense Media's careers page. When applying, make your visa situation clear in your cover letter and frame it alongside your commitment to the organization's mission. Migrate Mate can help you identify current openings at verified sponsoring employers in the non-profit space so you can focus your energy on organizations actively supporting international hires.
How do I know if Common Sense Media is currently hiring sponsored roles?
Sponsorship availability varies by role and business need, and not every open position at a nonprofit will come with visa support. Checking their careers page regularly is a good starting point. You can also use Migrate Mate to track job openings at employers with a documented sponsorship history, which helps filter out listings where sponsorship is unlikely to be offered.
