Frame your credentials around cloud program delivery
DigitalOcean looks for program managers with experience coordinating technical work across distributed engineering teams. Certifications like PMP or CAPM strengthen your profile, but direct evidence of shipping cloud or infrastructure products carries more weight in your resume.
Target roles aligned with DigitalOcean's product pillars
DigitalOcean's program management needs tend to cluster around developer tools, managed databases, and platform reliability. Tailoring your application to one of these areas signals you've done the work to understand where the company is investing, which matters in a competitive screening process.
Understand which visa types apply to your situation
DigitalOcean sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for program management roles. If you're on OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility before applying. TN applicants in Canadian or Mexican program management roles must verify the role maps to an eligible TN occupation category.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Program Manager positions
Filtering for sponsorship-confirmed employers is the fastest way to avoid wasted applications. Migrate Mate tracks which companies actively sponsor international hires for program management roles so you can focus your outreach on employers already set up to file.
Raise sponsorship early in the recruiter conversation
DigitalOcean's talent team handles visa coordination internally, so you'll get a clearer answer faster by asking about sponsorship in the first recruiter screen rather than waiting until the offer stage. Knowing their process upfront helps you plan around H-1B cap timelines or OPT end dates.
Align your start date to H-1B cap deadlines if needed
If your offer requires a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS's April 1 filing window and October 1 start date mean a gap of six or more months is common. Confirm with your recruiter whether DigitalOcean will defer your start date or explore cap-exempt bridge options if you hold an eligible status.

Find Program Manager at DigitalOcean JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DigitalOcean sponsor H-1B visas for Program Managers?
Yes, DigitalOcean sponsors H-1B visas for Program Manager roles. Program management is generally recognized as a specialty occupation requiring a related bachelor's degree or higher, which supports H-1B eligibility. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, DigitalOcean would need to submit a registration during USCIS's annual lottery window, typically in March for an October start.
How do I apply for Program Manager jobs at DigitalOcean?
Applications go through DigitalOcean's careers portal. Before applying, confirm the role explicitly lists visa sponsorship or reach out to the recruiter directly. Migrate Mate is a useful starting point for surfacing open Program Manager positions at DigitalOcean that are relevant to international candidates, so you can apply to roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Which visa types does DigitalOcean commonly use for Program Manager hires?
DigitalOcean sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. F-1 students in program management or related fields can often start on CPT or OPT while an H-1B petition is prepared. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, though not all program management roles map cleanly to TN eligibility.
What qualifications does DigitalOcean expect for Program Manager roles?
DigitalOcean's Program Manager positions typically require a bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline alongside demonstrated experience running cross-functional programs in a software or cloud environment. Familiarity with agile delivery, stakeholder communication across engineering and product teams, and experience with developer-focused or infrastructure products strengthens your candidacy significantly over a generalist program management background.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a DigitalOcean role?
The H-1B cap registration period runs in March, with USCIS selecting registrations by lottery shortly after. Approved petitions have an October 1 start date. That means if you receive an offer in, say, May, you may wait up to 17 months before your H-1B status begins. Coordinating with DigitalOcean's HR team early on whether an OPT or TN bridge is possible can help close that gap.
