Align your credentials with DLR's project types
DLR Group works across sectors like healthcare, education, and civic facilities. Tailor your portfolio and resume to highlight experience on large-scale, multi-discipline building projects, since that's the work their engineering teams are actively staffed around.
Target open roles before H-1B registration opens
USCIS opens H-1B registration each March for an April lottery. Securing an offer and completing internal approvals before that window closes gives your employer enough lead time to file your petition without rushing through compliance steps.
Ask specifically about TN eligibility during interviews
Canadian and Mexican engineers may qualify for TN status under USMCA without going through the H-1B lottery. Raise this directly with DLR Group's HR or legal team, since not all recruiters proactively surface TN as an option during offer negotiations.
Use Migrate Mate to filter DLR Group's open engineering roles
Engineering openings at DLR Group span multiple locations and disciplines. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for their sponsored positions so you're applying to roles where visa support is already confirmed, not guessing from a generic job listing.
Prepare your PE licensure documentation before the offer stage
DLR Group engineering roles often require or prefer licensed Professional Engineers. Having your PE credentials, foreign degree equivalency documentation, and any NCEES records ready speeds up the employer's internal review and avoids delays after an offer is extended.

Find Engineering at DLR Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DLR Group sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, DLR Group has sponsored H-1B visas for engineering roles. H-1B sponsorship requires your position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which engineering roles at a licensed design firm like DLR Group typically satisfy. Your employer files the petition with USCIS after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter when an offer is on the table.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at DLR Group?
Applications go through DLR Group's careers portal on their website. Most engineering roles require a resume, portfolio of relevant project work, and for licensed positions, PE credentials. You can also browse DLR Group's visa-sponsored engineering openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where international candidates are explicitly supported, saving you time spent on listings that won't lead anywhere for your situation.
Which visa types does DLR Group commonly use for Engineering roles?
DLR Group has supported H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for engineering candidates. F-1 OPT and CPT are typically used for students and recent graduates entering internship or entry-level roles. The H-1B is the primary long-term option for non-Canadian and non-Mexican nationals. Canadian and Mexican engineers may qualify for TN status under USMCA, which has no lottery and can be processed faster than H-1B.
What qualifications does DLR Group expect for Engineering candidates?
DLR Group typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline such as structural, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering. For senior and project engineer roles, Professional Engineer licensure is often expected. Practical experience on large building projects in sectors like healthcare, higher education, or civic infrastructure is a strong differentiator, since those are core markets DLR Group serves.
How do I time my application around the H-1B process at DLR Group?
The H-1B lottery registration opens in March each year, with petitions filed in April for an October 1 start date. To be sponsored in a given cycle, you need an offer and internal approvals finalized before early March. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you may have up to three years of work authorization to bridge the gap if you don't get selected in the first lottery.
