Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Civil Engineer Jobs at DLR Group Jobs
Align your credentials to DLR Group's project portfolio
DLR Group's civil engineering work spans education campuses, justice facilities, and civic infrastructure. Tailor your resume to show experience on institutional or public-sector projects, as generalist construction backgrounds are less competitive than targeted sector experience.
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a directly related bachelor's degree for H-1B approval. A civil engineering degree from a three or four-year accredited program satisfies this, but an unrelated STEM degree with civil coursework typically does not. Confirm your transcript supports the specific role title before applying.
Target open roles in DLR Group's regional studios
DLR Group operates through studio offices rather than a single headquarters. Civil Engineer openings are often posted at the studio level. Searching by location rather than just job title surfaces roles that centralized job boards may not surface prominently.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter for Civil Engineer roles at companies with confirmed H-1B and OPT sponsorship histories. Migrate Mate surfaces DLR Group openings alongside their visa sponsorship track record, so you can prioritize applications where sponsorship is already established practice.
Clarify OPT or CPT authorization early in the process
If you're on F-1 status, confirm with your DSO that your authorized period covers the expected start date before an offer is extended. DLR Group sponsors both OPT and CPT, but delays in authorization paperwork can complicate onboarding timelines on projects with fixed mobilization dates.
Understand the H-1B filing window before accepting an offer
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed in April for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, confirm with the hiring team whether a cap-exempt filing or a bridge through OPT is feasible before your current status expires.

Find Civil Engineer at DLR Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DLR Group sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, DLR Group sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineers. Civil engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, and DLR Group has an established pattern of sponsoring international engineers across its studio offices. If you're cap-subject, the petition must be filed in April for an October 1 start date, so timing your job search accordingly matters.
Which visa types are commonly used for Civil Engineer roles at DLR Group?
DLR Group sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Civil Engineers. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B is the standard path for longer-term employment authorization. Canadian and Mexican nationals in civil engineering may qualify for TN status, which is processed directly at the border or a U.S. consulate without a lottery.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at DLR Group?
Applications go through DLR Group's careers portal, where roles are listed by studio location. You can also find and filter DLR Group's Civil Engineer openings on Migrate Mate, which highlights positions at employers with confirmed visa sponsorship histories. When applying, match your project experience to DLR Group's sector focus, which includes education, civic, and justice facility work.
What qualifications and experience does DLR Group expect for Civil Engineer roles?
Most Civil Engineer roles at DLR Group require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited program, with Professional Engineer licensure preferred or required for senior positions. Project experience on institutional, public-sector, or infrastructure work is valued. Familiarity with local jurisdiction permitting processes and coordination between architectural and structural disciplines is frequently listed in DLR Group job descriptions.
How do I plan the visa process timeline after receiving a Civil Engineer offer from DLR Group?
Timeline depends on your current status. F-1 students can begin on OPT while H-1B sponsorship is prepared, but OPT has a 60-day unemployment grace period that stops the clock only when you're between jobs. For H-1B, USCIS premium processing returns a decision within 15 business days and is commonly used when project start dates are fixed. Confirm the filing approach with DLR Group's HR team before your authorization window closes.
