Document your trade certifications before applying
DLR Group's facilities and construction projects require mechanics who can demonstrate verified competency. Gather ASE certifications, equipment-specific licenses, and any state-issued trade credentials before submitting your application so hiring managers can assess sponsorship eligibility immediately.
Target DLR Group's facilities management openings specifically
Mechanic roles at DLR Group often appear under facilities operations or building systems maintenance for their owned and managed properties. Filtering your search to those business units increases your chances of finding positions tied to long-term staffing needs where sponsorship is more viable.
Clarify your OPT or CPT authorization during early interviews
If you're on F-1 status, tell your recruiter upfront whether you have OPT or CPT authorization and how many months remain. DLR Group sponsors F-1 OPT, so a clear timeline helps the hiring team plan around USCIS filing windows without last-minute scrambles.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Mechanic openings
DLR Group posts across multiple channels and roles fill quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Mechanic positions at DLR Group that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying to verified live listings rather than chasing outdated postings.
Ask your recruiter which prevailing wage level applies to your role
For H-1B petitions, DOL requires employers to pay the prevailing wage for the specific occupational category and location. Knowing your wage level classification upfront helps you evaluate offers accurately and flags whether the role is structured to support a defensible H-1B filing.
Confirm TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
TN status covers certain skilled occupations and processes faster than H-1B without a lottery. Before your offer stage, verify with DLR Group's HR team whether the Mechanic role's job duties and your credentials align with the DOL's qualifying TN occupation list.

Find Mechanic at DLR Group JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does DLR Group sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanics?
Yes, DLR Group has sponsored H-1B visas for workers in technical and skilled roles. For Mechanic positions specifically, sponsorship depends on whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards and whether your credentials align with the job requirements. Raising the conversation early in the hiring process gives both sides time to plan around the H-1B filing calendar.
How do I apply for Mechanic jobs at DLR Group?
You can find open Mechanic positions through DLR Group's careers page or by browsing Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to the technical scope of DLR Group's construction and facilities projects, and be upfront about your visa status in your cover note so recruiters can route your application appropriately.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanic roles at DLR Group?
DLR Group sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for workers in technical functions. For Mechanic roles, F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates in engineering or industrial technology programs, while TN is a fast-track option for Canadian and Mexican citizens whose occupation qualifies under the USMCA agreement. H-1B applies when the role meets USCIS specialty occupation criteria.
What qualifications does DLR Group typically expect for Mechanic roles?
DLR Group's Mechanic positions generally require hands-on experience with mechanical systems relevant to commercial construction or facilities operations, such as HVAC, plumbing, or heavy equipment. Trade certifications like ASE or manufacturer-specific credentials strengthen your application. Roles supporting active construction sites may also require OSHA safety training. An engineering-related degree can support H-1B qualification if the role's duties require that level of technical knowledge.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Mechanic position at DLR Group?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization can be set up relatively quickly if your EAD is already approved by USCIS. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the border on the day of travel with the right documentation. H-1B sponsorship follows a longer path, with the annual lottery in March and an October 1 employment start date for cap-subject cases, so planning at least six to nine months ahead is necessary.
