Align your credentials with U.S. licensure expectations
STV's Civil Engineer roles frequently require or expect progress toward a Professional Engineer license. Get your foreign academic credentials evaluated by a NACES-member organization before applying, so your degree equivalency is documented and ready when hiring managers ask.
Target STV's infrastructure and transportation project teams
STV's civil hiring is concentrated in transportation, transit, and public infrastructure programs. Applying to roles tied to active DOT or transit authority contracts signals relevant experience and puts you in front of teams with established sponsorship precedent for this function.
Understand how TN status fits Civil Engineering
Canadian and Mexican engineers can enter quickly under TN status, which doesn't require USCIS pre-approval for Canadians. If STV extends an offer, a qualifying civil engineering job offer letter is the critical document for TN admission at the port of entry.
Clarify PERM timing with your recruiter early
If you're targeting a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, ask STV's HR team when PERM recruitment typically begins relative to your start date. Consulting firms vary on this, and knowing their internal process helps you plan your immigration timeline accurately.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Civil Engineer roles by visa type
Searching STV's full job board manually won't show you which postings are open to sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter Civil Engineer openings at STV by the visa types you're eligible for, so you're only spending time on roles where your status is viable.
Prepare project documentation that supports your H-1B petition
STV's H-1B filings for Civil Engineers need to demonstrate specialty occupation. Compile technical project records showing degree-level engineering judgment, not just construction oversight. USCIS scrutinizes civil roles more than software roles, so documentation quality directly affects approval.

Find Civil Engineer at STV JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does STV sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Engineers?
Yes, STV sponsors H-1B visas for Civil Engineer roles. Because civil engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, STV's petitions to USCIS can establish the necessary threshold. The H-1B cap lottery applies unless you're already in H-1B status and transferring, so timing your application around the annual registration window in March matters.
How do I apply for Civil Engineer jobs at STV?
You can browse and apply for Civil Engineer openings at STV directly through their careers portal, or use Migrate Mate to filter STV roles by the visa type you need. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific infrastructure or transportation project type listed, and be explicit about your current visa status and work authorization so recruiters can route your application correctly.
Which visa types does STV commonly use for Civil Engineer hires?
STV supports several visa pathways for Civil Engineers, including H-1B, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, J-1 for certain training-based roles, and immigrant visa categories EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term permanent residency. The right pathway depends on your nationality, degree level, and how long you've been in the U.S.
What qualifications does STV expect for sponsored Civil Engineer roles?
Most STV Civil Engineer postings require a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited program. Relevant experience in transportation, structural, or infrastructure projects is typically expected, and progress toward EIT or PE licensure strengthens your profile significantly. For H-1B purposes, USCIS requires the degree field to directly relate to the job duties described in the petition.
How do I time my application to account for visa processing at STV?
If you're pursuing an H-1B, STV would need to file your petition by April 1 for an October 1 start, meaning you'd need an offer in hand well before the March registration window. F-1 OPT holders should account for the 90-day unemployment limit and apply early enough that an offer and any STEM OPT extension paperwork don't overlap with gaps in work authorization.
