- Prepare and organize composite materials in preparation for lamination.
- Apply composite materials onto molds or tooling surfaces using techniques like hand layup or automated processes.
- Ensure proper ply orientation, ply thickness, and material consolidation is achieved.
- Utilize advanced vacuum bagging techniques for composite layup operations, including Pre-Preg, Infusion, and Wet/Vacuum Bag Lamination.
- Mix and use Epoxy resins, fairing compounds, and industry-standard paints for structural and finishing needs.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to ensure build accuracy.
- Operate and control a variety of power tools, including sanders, drills, impact drivers, and routers, safely and effectively for extended periods.
- Maintain and manage specialized shop infrastructure, including the cleanroom, curing ovens, and hazardous material storage.
- Support the physical assembly, wiring, and mechanical troubleshooting of robotic vehicles and test fixtures during peak build cycles.
- Use computers for basic documentation, record-keeping, and tracking of material shelf life.
- Work comfortably alone on complex components or in a team environment during full vehicle builds.
- Verbally communicate, read, and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions.
We’re Excited About You Because You Have…
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant working experience in composite manufacturing, aerospace, or high-performance fabrication.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools and a high degree of manual dexterity for precision assembly.
- Mastery of vacuum bagging and lamination techniques with Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, and Kevlar.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
- Capacity to work in physically demanding environments, including bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

- Ability to wear and work safely with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, and eye/ear protection.
- Visual acuity to measure accurately and perform detailed craftsmanship on structural parts.
- Willingness to travel within the US and abroad occasionally if required.
Preferred Experience Includes…
- Experience with advanced tooling creation from machined aluminum or 3D-printed masters.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, Onshape) for model navigation and design verification.
- Background in making composites for fun projects.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.

Tailor your resume to DoorDash's technical stack
DoorDash Engineering Technician roles frequently involve hardware diagnostics, embedded systems, and field operations support. Highlight hands-on experience with those areas explicitly. Generic resumes that list certifications without operational context rarely clear the first screening round.
Verify your visa category before applying
DoorDash sponsors multiple nonimmigrant categories including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Knowing which category fits your nationality and status before your first interview prevents awkward mid-process surprises and signals to recruiters that you understand your own immigration situation.
Front-load sponsorship conversations with the recruiter
At large technology employers like DoorDash, recruiters have dedicated immigration support teams behind them. Confirming sponsorship eligibility for Engineering Technician roles in the first recruiter screen saves weeks of back-and-forth and avoids reaching the offer stage unnecessarily.
Align your start date with USCIS processing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only start on October 1. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date against DoorDash's typical offer-to-start timeline. A 60-day gap between OPT expiry and an H-1B start date requires careful planning with your employer's immigration counsel.
Use Migrate Mate to target open Engineering Technician roles
Filtering by role and sponsorship history simultaneously is where most job seekers lose time. Migrate Mate lets you search DoorDash's Engineering Technician openings specifically alongside their visa sponsorship track record, so you're applying with full context rather than guessing at eligibility.
Prepare for PERM documentation if pursuing a Green Card
DoorDash sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, but the DOL's PERM labor certification process requires documented proof of your qualifications matching the role definition precisely. Collect academic transcripts, foreign credential evaluations, and employment verification letters before your employer initiates the PERM filing.

Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Technicians?
Yes, DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering Technician roles. The company works with immigration counsel to support cap-subject petitions filed in the annual H-1B lottery window each March, as well as cap-exempt transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with a qualifying employer. Confirming your specific situation with the recruiter early in the process is the most reliable way to understand your timeline.
How do I apply for Engineering Technician jobs at DoorDash?
You can browse current Engineering Technician openings on DoorDash's careers site or use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles where DoorDash has a documented visa sponsorship history. When applying, tailor your resume to emphasize hardware, field operations, or systems diagnostics experience relevant to DoorDash's logistics and delivery infrastructure.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly use for Engineering Technician roles?
DoorDash sponsors a broad range of visa categories for technical roles, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for current students, J-1 for exchange visitors, and EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories for permanent residence pathways.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for Engineering Technician positions?
DoorDash Engineering Technician roles typically require hands-on experience with hardware systems, diagnostic tools, or field installation and maintenance. A background in electrical engineering, computer hardware, or mechatronics is common. For visa purposes, your degree field must align with the role's specialty occupation classification, so ensure your credentials are evaluated if you completed your degree outside the United States.
How do I manage the timing between my current visa status and a DoorDash offer?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 OPT holders need to confirm their expiration date against DoorDash's H-1B filing window, since cap-subject petitions have an April 1 filing deadline and an October 1 start date. Candidates already on H-1B can transfer status, often with portability rights after 180 days in an approved EB-2 or EB-3 petition. Discuss your specific timeline with DoorDash's immigration team before signing an offer.
