About the Team
Our New Verticals team launched in 2020 with the purpose of delighting our customers and empowering local communities outside of just restaurants. Since then, we've launched Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, Retail, and DashMarts while also building merchant services, dasher tooling and consumer products. New Verticals is the growth engine of DoorDash's business and we are continuing to build and scale new businesses everyday! These roles sit within our Convenience Strategy & Operations - the first vertical we launched outside of restaurants! Convenience is one of our most profitable and accessible verticals with the highest monthly average users across our New Verticals platform - we are growing the team so come join us!
About the Role
We are hiring two Associates to work on our Convenience Strategy & Operations team across growth, quality and operational initiatives. You will work on major enterprise merchants to drive customer acquisition, merchant performance, operational excellence, and sustainable growth by identifying & executing against strategic opportunities. We have two roles open - one role is more focused on growth initiatives across our Enterprise Merchants and one role is more focused on driving continuous improvement and a perfect Consumer experience. Depending on the role we align you to, you might work on initiatives like:
- Identifying, validating, and launching high-impact "0-to-1" initiatives that unlock new growth opportunities across the convenience merchant base
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to enhance in-app merchandising and optimize the customer journey across the funnel
- Developing initiatives that strengthen DoorDash's position as the preferred destination for convenience shopping through improved selection, discoverability, and quality
- Leading operational improvement projects focused on increasing order accuracy, fulfillment speed, and overall customer satisfaction
- Streamlining in-store fulfillment processes to improve efficiency and create a seamless experience for Dashers and merchant partners
- Developing and executing on programs that improve inventory accuracy and ensure real-time platform availability reflects in-store stock levels
These roles sit at the intersection of strategy, operations, and product. The best operators today are rapidly generating new ideas, taking ownership over metrics and moving them in the right direction through building product visions, synthesizing complex analyses and testing every idea — all while leveraging AI to uplevel how we operate. We expect this person to stay at the forefront of how AI is reshaping the work, actively exploring new tools, automating repetitive workflows, and finding ways to do in hours what used to take weeks.
We have two positions open so you will be considered for both roles throughout this interview process. Role alignment will be determined by the hiring panel through team matching & role fit after interviews are completed. This is an individual contributor position. We operate in a hybrid model and spend a few days a month in person together.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Strategize. From first principles, you'll develop the optimal strategy for best serving all sides of the marketplace - dashers, merchants and consumers.
- Operate. Own tracking dashboards and manage week over week metrics to drive high quality operations.
- Analyze. Build models using Excel and SQL to evaluate the economic, operational and strategic costs and benefits of various programs and experiments — and increasingly, use AI to accelerate and deepen that analysis.
- Experiment. You'll transform strategies into operational experiments, product features and net-new tooling that create measurable outcomes.
- Build with AI. You'll use AI tools to automate manual processes, build new prototypes and develop product visions. You'll be expected to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI in your day-to-day work, and share what you learn with the team.
- Lead, collaborate and Influence. You'll partner with and influence cross-functional teams including growth, quality, finance, product and engineering to launch initiatives to the finish line.
We're excited about you because…
- You have 1-3+ years of experience. You've succeeded in similar cultures that are highly analytical and cross-functional (whether in tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience).
- You are an owner. You're always looking for opportunities to better your work product and own the outcome – both the good and the bad.
- You're entrepreneurial. You have a bias for action and are able to build things from the ground up.
- You're analytical. You let data win arguments, and you're comfortable pulling your own data in SQL and building models in excel.
- You solve problems from first principles. You have a talent for synthesizing complex problems, can translate high-level goals into actionable plans, and enjoy implementing a process.
- You're equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don't hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you're just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team.
- You're unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environment.
- You're energized by AI tools — and you actively experiment with them. You don't wait to be told how to use a new tool; you're already exploring tools like Claude, Cursor, Gemini and more. You bring a builder's mindset to AI: using it to automate the repetitive, accelerate the analytical, and unlock work that would otherwise require a larger team. You're comfortable with a role whose scope will continue to shift as AI becomes more capable, and you see that as an opportunity rather than a threat.
- You have a completed Bachelor's Degree.

Frame Your Credentials Around Operational Impact
DoorDash Strategy & Biz Ops roles expect candidates who can own end-to-end analysis and drive cross-functional decisions. Quantify how your past work shaped product, growth, or efficiency outcomes, not just how you supported a team.
Target Teams Tied to Core Marketplace Functions
DoorDash's sponsorship activity for this function clusters around its merchant, dasher, and consumer growth verticals. Tailor your applications toward open roles in those business lines, where headcount demand and sponsorship precedent are strongest.
Clarify Your Visa Type Early in Recruiter Screens
Strategy Biz Ops roles at DoorDash span multiple visa categories. State your current status and work authorization timeline in your first recruiter call so the team can route your candidacy correctly before offer-stage complications arise.
Understand How OPT Cap-Gap Affects Your Start Date
If you're on F-1 OPT and waiting for an H-1B decision, the cap-gap rule extends your work authorization through September 30. Confirm your exact OPT expiry with your DSO before accepting a start date, since DoorDash onboarding timelines may not align automatically.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active Openings by Sponsorship Type
Strategy Biz Ops roles at DoorDash open and close quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter current openings by visa category so you're applying to positions where your specific sponsorship need is already a known variable for the hiring team.
Align Your PERM Timeline Expectations With DoorDash's Process
If you're targeting a Green Card pathway through DoorDash, the PERM labor certification process alone typically takes one to two years before USCIS even receives the I-140. Factor that into your long-term planning before accepting an offer contingent on future sponsorship.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does DoorDash sponsor H-1B visas for Strategy Business Operations roles?
Yes. DoorDash sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy Business Operations positions and has a documented track record of doing so across its marketplace and growth teams. Strategy and business operations roles typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards, which is the threshold required for H-1B approval. Confirming sponsorship intent with the recruiter early in the process is still the right move, since sponsorship decisions can vary by role level and team.
How do I apply for Strategy Business Operations jobs at DoorDash?
You can browse and apply through DoorDash's careers portal directly or use Migrate Mate to find active openings filtered by visa sponsorship type. Strategy Biz Ops roles at DoorDash typically involve a recruiter screen, a case study or analytical exercise, and multiple cross-functional panel interviews. Tailoring your application to reflect experience in marketplace operations, growth analytics, or merchant strategy will align with what these teams are actively hiring for.
Which visa types does DoorDash commonly sponsor for Strategy Business Operations positions?
DoorDash sponsors a range of visa types for this function, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, H-1B1 visa for Singaporean and Chilean nationals, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican professionals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For longer-term employment-based immigration, DoorDash also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, though those timelines depend heavily on your country of birth and PERM processing through the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does DoorDash expect for Strategy Business Operations candidates who need visa sponsorship?
DoorDash's Strategy Biz Ops roles typically require strong analytical skills, comfort with ambiguous problem-solving, and experience working cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment. A bachelor's or master's degree in business, economics, engineering, or a related quantitative field is standard. Candidates coming from consulting, investment banking, or high-growth tech operations backgrounds tend to be well-positioned. The degree requirement also matters for visa eligibility, particularly for H-1B specialty occupation classification under USCIS guidelines.
How do I time my application if my work authorization is expiring soon?
If your OPT or current visa status expires within the next six months, disclose this to the recruiter at your first screen. DoorDash's HR and immigration teams are experienced with sponsorship transitions, but offer-to-start timelines for Strategy Biz Ops roles can run eight to twelve weeks. H-1B petitions must be filed before October 1 for the relevant fiscal year, so working backward from that date helps you identify when you need an offer in hand.
