Certify your A&P before applying
Duncan Aviation's maintenance roles almost universally require FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. Holding a current A&P before you apply removes a major hiring barrier and signals you're work-authorized and operationally ready from day one.
Target MRO-specific job postings early
Duncan Aviation posts maintenance openings by facility and specialty. Search their careers page filtered by Lincoln, Battle Creek, or Provo to find roles that align with your rating. Line MRO positions move quickly, so applying in the first week matters.
Align your OPT start with hiring cycles
Aviation MROs including Duncan Aviation ramp hiring in spring ahead of summer maintenance demand. Timing your F-1 OPT authorization to begin between February and April gives you the strongest overlap with active headcount approvals for maintenance technician roles.
Understand the PERM timeline for EB-3 sponsorship
If Duncan Aviation offers EB-3 sponsorship, DOL's PERM labor certification typically takes six to twelve months before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition. Starting that conversation with HR well before your OPT or grace period expires is essential.
Document hands-on turbine and avionics experience specifically
Duncan Aviation services business jets and turboprops. Emphasize logged hours on Cessna Citations, Hawkers, or Falcons in your resume. Experience on these platforms directly matches their hangar work and strengthens both your hire and any future PERM recruitment test.
Use Migrate Mate to find open maintenance roles
Searching for visa-friendly maintenance openings across MRO operators is time-consuming. Use Migrate Mate to filter Duncan Aviation's open maintenance positions by visa sponsorship type, so you can prioritize applications where your specific status is already supported.

Find Maintenance at Duncan Aviation JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Duncan Aviation sponsor H-1B visas for Maintenances?
Duncan Aviation's immigration sponsorship for maintenance roles has historically leaned toward permanent residency pathways like EB-2 and EB-3, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for students in aviation programs. H-1B sponsorship for maintenance technician roles is less common in the MRO industry because most hands-on technician positions are classified as requiring vocational rather than specialty occupation credentials, which is the H-1B's core eligibility standard.
How do I apply for Maintenance jobs at Duncan Aviation?
Applications go through Duncan Aviation's careers portal, where maintenance openings are listed by location and specialty. You'll need a current FAA A&P certificate for most roles. During the application and interview process, raise visa sponsorship needs directly with the recruiting team. Duncan Aviation operates facilities in Nebraska, Michigan, and Utah, so specifying your preferred location helps match you to the right opening. You can also browse current openings on Migrate Mate filtered by sponsorship type.
Which visa types does Duncan Aviation commonly use for Maintenance roles?
For maintenance professionals, Duncan Aviation has sponsored F-1 OPT and CPT for students completing aviation maintenance technology or aeronautical engineering programs, allowing practical training in the hangar before full employment. For longer-term sponsorship, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are the more established routes, particularly for experienced technicians with FAA certification and documented hands-on hours. J-1 exchange visitor status has also appeared in their sponsorship history.
What qualifications does Duncan Aviation expect for Maintenance roles?
A current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate is the baseline requirement for most technician roles. Duncan Aviation works heavily on business aviation aircraft, so experience with turbine powerplants, avionics systems, or business jet airframes strengthens your application considerably. For OPT candidates, enrollment or recent graduation from an FAA-approved aviation maintenance technology program is the standard pathway. Inspection Authorization holders and those with EASA cross-certification may qualify for senior-level openings.
How do I navigate the timeline between my OPT expiration and Green Card sponsorship at Duncan Aviation?
OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization after graduation, with a possible 24-month STEM extension if your program qualifies. If Duncan Aviation agrees to sponsor an EB-3 petition, DOL's PERM process alone can take six to twelve months, followed by USCIS adjudication. You'll want to initiate sponsorship conversations no later than six months into your OPT to avoid gaps. If your STEM OPT extension covers the PERM period, the transition can be seamless.
