Key Responsibilities
Functional & Technical Leadership
- Lead the Processing and Metallurgy function in alignment with Nevada Projects’ strategic objectives.
- Ensure metallurgical activities comply with AGA governance, methodologies, and company standards—particularly during high‑impact technical decisions.
- Provide governance for process design criteria, flowsheet selection, metallurgical accounting, and recovery modeling.
- Ensure metallurgical scope and deliverables meet each project’s stage‑gate and execution readiness requirements.
Project Development & Economic Assurance
- Lead development of metallurgical inputs for Concept Study (CS), PFS, and FS level capital and operating cost estimates.
- Ensure recovery assumptions, reagent consumption forecasts, and operating philosophies are technically sound and economically optimized.
- Validate technical trade‑offs and recovery models supporting project business cases.
- Review and approve operating philosophies, metallurgical control strategies, and performance assumptions appropriate to project maturity.
Metallurgical Testwork & Technical Integration
- Govern metallurgical testwork programs, laboratory methods, sampling systems, scale‑up approaches, and metallurgical accounting frameworks.
- Ensure testwork, modeling, and recovery assumptions are fit‑for‑purpose for the project phase.
- Integrate metallurgical deliverables with Engineering, Mining, Geology, Infrastructure, Project Controls, and Finance functions.
- Support commissioning, ramp‑up, and performance validation by ensuring process design intent is preserved through execution.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between technical metallurgy and senior project leadership.
- Manage senior‑level relationships with EPCM contractors, metallurgical laboratories, and specialty consultants.
- Maintain accountability for technical performance and commercial aspects associated with metallurgical service providers.
People, Safety & Culture
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high‑performance culture within the processing and metallurgy team.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to metallurgical professionals and project team members.
- Promote and lead safe execution of metallurgical testwork, studies, and site‑based activities.
- Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related process discipline (required).
- Advanced degree or specialized postgraduate training preferred.
- Proficiency with applicable metallurgical and project analysis tools and software.

- Demonstrated leadership of metallurgical scope across multiple project development stages.
- Strong background in gold processing projects; experience with refractory ores preferred.
- Proven experience working across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical testwork programs and scale‑up principles.
- Familiarity with refractory gold flowsheets (flotation, POX, BIOX/Albion, atmospheric oxidation).
- Ability to analyze complex technical data, draw conclusions, and support decision‑making.
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Strong technical judgment and accountability in high‑impact decisions.
- Excellent awareness of safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision while maintaining governance discipline.
- Collaborative leadership style with a strong mentoring mindset.

Align your credentials to mining engineering standards
AngloGold Ashanti's E-3 roles in mining typically require a degree directly tied to the job function. A geology or mining engineering degree must align with your specific role title. Use O*NET to verify your occupation's specialty designation before applying.
Research active roles in technical operations
AngloGold Ashanti's North American E-3 filings concentrate in technical and engineering functions. Target open roles in mine planning, geological services, and environmental compliance rather than corporate generalist positions, which are less likely to qualify as specialty occupations under E-3 criteria.
Confirm the LCA covers your worksite location
Mining operations often span multiple physical sites. Before your interview, confirm with HR that the certified Labor Condition Application lists the specific worksite where you'll be based. A mismatch between your LCA location and actual placement can create compliance issues after you arrive.
Benchmark your offer against DOL prevailing wages
AngloGold Ashanti must pay you the prevailing wage for your role and location. Run your job title and worksite state through the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating salary. If the offer sits below Level II for your occupation, request a written explanation or renegotiate before the LCA is submitted.
Use Migrate Mate to manage your E-3 filing
Once AngloGold Ashanti confirms sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to handle the E-3 filing. The platform connects you with a dedicated E-3 visa expert who manages your paperwork from LCA certification through consulate preparation, reducing back-and-forth with HR and avoiding common document errors.
Prepare for consular scrutiny of specialty occupation
Consular officers at Australian posts examine whether mining roles genuinely require a specific degree. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and a role description that explicitly states a relevant bachelor's degree is required. Generic job descriptions that list degrees as preferred rather than required can trigger refusals.
Anglogold Ashanti E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does AngloGold Ashanti North America sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, AngloGold Ashanti North America sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Sponsorship is most active in technical disciplines including mining engineering, geology, and environmental science. The company files Labor Condition Applications through DOL and supports the consular application process for eligible candidates.
Which roles at AngloGold Ashanti North America typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at AngloGold Ashanti North America is concentrated in roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field. Positions in mine planning, geological services, environmental compliance, and engineering operations are the most common. Corporate or administrative generalist roles are less likely to meet the specialty occupation threshold required by USCIS.
How do I navigate the E-3 application process at AngloGold Ashanti North America?
After receiving a formal offer, AngloGold Ashanti's HR or immigration team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once certified, you take the LCA and supporting documents to your U.S. consulate interview in Australia. Migrate Mate can manage the preparation and filing steps between offer acceptance and your consulate appointment, reducing errors and delays.
How long does the E-3 sponsorship process take at AngloGold Ashanti North America?
The LCA certification step typically takes seven business days after DOL submission. Consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth then determines your overall timeline, which can range from two to eight weeks depending on current wait times. Starting your DS-160 and gathering documents immediately after offer acceptance helps avoid unnecessary delays.
What practical steps can I take to strengthen my E-3 application at AngloGold Ashanti North America?
Ensure your degree transcript clearly maps to the role's stated requirements in the offer letter. Verify the job description uses mandatory rather than preferred language for your degree field. Confirm with HR that the LCA lists your actual worksite, not a corporate headquarters address. Review the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your offered salary meets prevailing wage requirements for your occupation and location.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at AngloGold Ashanti North America?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
