Match your credentials to specialty occupation requirements
Barnard's E-3 roles in construction management and engineering require a degree directly tied to the job. Pull the occupation's exact requirements from O*NET before applying so your resume reflects the field-specific degree alignment USCIS expects.
Target project-based roles during bid cycles
Large construction firms like Barnard ramp up hiring when major infrastructure contracts are awarded. Timing your application to coincide with newly announced projects increases your odds of landing a role that genuinely needs your specialty.
Verify your salary meets DOL prevailing wage
Before accepting any offer, run the job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search. Barnard's LCA must certify your offered wage meets the prevailing rate for your occupation and work site, and a shortfall blocks the visa filing entirely.
Ask HR directly about the LCA filing timeline
Barnard's HR team files the Labor Condition Application with DOL before your visa appointment. Confirm they've started that process early, since LCA certification typically takes seven business days but can delay your consulate scheduling if it's left late.
Use Migrate Mate to handle your E-3 filing paperwork
Once Barnard issues your offer and the LCA is certified, use Migrate Mate to manage the DS-160, supporting documents, and filing preparation. A flat-fee service removes the risk of errors that could delay your consulate appointment.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at interview
Construction roles at companies like Barnard often involve multi-year project commitments, which can prompt consular officers to probe your ties to Australia. Have clear documentation of home-country connections ready before your appointment.
Barnard Construction Company E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Barnard Construction Company sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Barnard Construction Company sponsors E-3 visas for Australian nationals in qualifying specialty occupation roles. Their sponsorship activity covers construction, engineering, and project management functions. Because E-3 eligibility requires a direct connection between your degree and the role, confirm that your specific position meets the specialty occupation standard before applying.
Which roles at Barnard Construction Company typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles in civil engineering, structural engineering, construction management, and project controls are the most common E-3 pathways at Barnard. These positions typically require a relevant bachelor's degree as a minimum, which satisfies the specialty occupation requirement USCIS applies to E-3 petitions. General labor or trades roles without a degree requirement generally don't qualify.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Barnard Construction Company?
After receiving a job offer, Barnard's HR or legal team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. Once certified, you complete the DS-160, pay the MRV fee, and schedule your visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia. You can use Migrate Mate to organize your documents and prepare your filing before the appointment.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Barnard Construction Company?
The LCA certification typically takes around seven business days after Barnard submits it to DOL. Consulate appointment availability in Australia then drives the overall timeline, with Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth varying by season. From offer acceptance to visa stamp, most applicants complete the process within four to eight weeks under normal conditions.
What should I bring to my E-3 visa interview for a Barnard Construction Company role?
Bring your certified LCA, DS-160 confirmation page, offer letter from Barnard, academic transcripts and degree certificates, a valid Australian passport, and the MRV fee receipt. The consular officer will assess both your specialty occupation credentials and your ties to Australia, so having clear documentation of your degree-to-role alignment is essential.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Barnard Construction Company?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
