Align your degree to the role
E-3 sponsorship requires your degree field to match the specific role, not just the industry. For Lyons, a degree in finance, economics, or accounting supports an asset management position far more cleanly than a general business degree does. Review your transcript before applying.
Research Lyons's prevailing wage obligations
Before negotiating salary, run the role's occupation code through the OFLC Wage Search to find the DOL prevailing wage for Lyons's location. Your offered salary must meet or exceed that figure for the Labor Condition Application to certify, so entering negotiations informed protects your offer.
Confirm Lyons files the LCA before you resign
The Labor Condition Application must be certified by DOL before you attend your consulate interview. When Lyons extends an offer, ask the hiring manager or HR contact to confirm the LCA timeline so you don't book your Australian consulate appointment prematurely.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified Lyons filings
Search Lyons on Migrate Mate to see its verified E-3 Labor Condition Application filing history by role and location. This tells you which job titles have actually been sponsored before, so you can tailor your application to positions Lyons has a documented track record of supporting.
Check your role against O*NET specialty occupation criteria
USCIS requires E-3 roles to qualify as specialty occupations, meaning they must normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Pull your target job title on O*NET and confirm the listed Job Zone and education requirements before accepting an offer from Lyons.
Prepare for consular scrutiny on nonimmigrant intent
Australian consulates assess whether your ties to Australia are strong enough to support nonimmigrant intent. For a finance role at Lyons, prepare to articulate why you're pursuing this specific position and what professional or personal ties bring you back to Australia after your E-3 period ends.
Lyons Magnus E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Lyons sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Lyons has sponsored E-3 visas for roles in the Investment and Asset Management sector. Australian professionals with qualifying degrees in finance, economics, or related fields have the strongest path to sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to review Lyons's verified Labor Condition Application filing history before applying.
Which roles at Lyons typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles in asset management, portfolio analysis, financial research, and investment operations are most likely to qualify, as they typically require a specific bachelor's degree or higher. Generalist roles where any degree is accepted are harder to support under the E-3 specialty occupation definition that USCIS applies.
How do I start the E-3 application process at Lyons?
Once Lyons extends a job offer, the company's HR or immigration counsel files a Labor Condition Application with DOL. After certification, you take that document to your Australian consulate appointment along with your DS-160, offer letter, and degree credentials. The consulate issues the E-3 stamp directly, so no USCIS filing is required.
How long does the E-3 process take at Lyons?
LCA certification typically takes around seven business days once submitted to DOL. After that, consulate appointment wait times at Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determine your overall timeline. In practice, most applicants move from signed offer to visa stamp within four to eight weeks, though consulate backlogs can extend this.
What should I bring to my consulate interview for an E-3 role at Lyons?
Bring your certified LCA, signed offer letter on Lyons company letterhead, DS-160 confirmation page, passport, degree certificate and transcripts, and your MRV fee receipt. Consular officers at Australian posts also look favorably on supporting documents that connect your academic background directly to the asset management role you've been offered.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Lyons?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
