Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding School Nurse Jobs at Eastern Virginia Medical School Jobs
Get your nursing credentials evaluated early
If you trained outside the U.S., submit your credentials to a NACES-approved evaluation service before applying. EVMS will expect a degree equivalency determination and active RN licensure in Virginia before any visa filing can begin.
Target EVMS roles tied to clinical education
School Nurse positions at medical schools often sit at the intersection of student health services and clinical training. Framing your application around experience in academic or institutional health settings makes your profile a stronger fit for EVMS specifically.
Search EVMS openings directly through Migrate Mate
Filter by employer and role on Migrate Mate to surface active School Nurse openings at EVMS that are open to visa sponsorship. This saves time compared to broad job board searches that don't filter for sponsorship eligibility.
Verify Virginia RN license portability for your visa status
Virginia is a Nurse Licensure Compact state. Confirm with the Virginia Board of Nursing that your current license or application is valid under your visa status, since some work authorization types affect when you can legally practice while your petition is pending.

Find School Nurse at Eastern Virginia Medical School JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Eastern Virginia Medical School sponsor H-1B visas for School Nurses?
School Nurse roles at EVMS can qualify for H-1B sponsorship when the position meets the specialty occupation standard, typically requiring at least a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field. Because H-1B has an annual cap and lottery, EVMS is more likely to pursue this pathway for candidates already in H-1B status or through cap-exempt filing if the institution qualifies.
How do I apply for School Nurse jobs at Eastern Virginia Medical School?
Applications go through EVMS's official careers portal. Before applying, confirm your Virginia RN licensure is active or in process and that your resume reflects experience in institutional or academic health settings. If you need visa sponsorship, note this clearly during the application process so HR can assess eligibility before extending an offer.
Which visa types does Eastern Virginia Medical School commonly use for School Nurse roles?
EVMS has sponsored candidates through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, F-1 OPT, TN (for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying nursing occupations), and J-1 exchange visitor status. The right category depends on your nationality, degree level, and career stage. Confirm directly with EVMS HR which pathway applies to your situation before accepting an offer.
What qualifications does Eastern Virginia Medical School expect for School Nurse positions?
EVMS typically expects candidates to hold at least a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, hold or be eligible for a Virginia RN license, and have experience in student health, occupational health, or a clinical institutional setting. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree and work history must also satisfy the requirements of whichever immigration category EVMS files under.
How do I find School Nurse jobs at Eastern Virginia Medical School that offer visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to filter School Nurse openings by employer and sponsorship type. This surfaces EVMS roles confirmed to be open to international candidates, saving you from applying to postings where sponsorship isn't on the table. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply through EVMS's careers portal and follow up with HR to confirm the sponsorship pathway early in the process.
