Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding School Nurse Jobs at Rush University Medical Center Jobs
Verify Your Illinois RN License Early
Rush requires active Illinois licensure before any hire can proceed. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation processes endorsement applications from foreign-trained nurses, and delays can stall your start date even after an offer is made.
Target Rush's Academic Medical Units Directly
School Nurse roles at Rush are tied to its academic health system, not community clinics. Search Rush's careers portal using department filters for student health or academic affairs, where these positions are typically posted and where sponsorship precedent exists.
Understand How H-1B Cap Timing Affects You
Rush sponsors H-1B visas, but the annual April lottery means your start date is constrained. If you miss the cap, ask Rush HR whether a cap-exempt filing pathway applies through its academic or research affiliations, which sometimes qualifies.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsored School Nurse Openings
Filter specifically for School Nurse roles at Rush University Medical Center on Migrate Mate. The platform surfaces visa-sponsoring employers so you spend time on applications that can actually move forward, not ones that will stall at the offer stage.
Prepare USCIS-Ready Credential Documentation Before Applying
Gather CGFNS certification, your foreign nursing school transcripts, and NCLEX results before your first interview. Rush's HR team initiates USCIS petition preparation quickly after offer acceptance, and having documents ready cuts weeks off the filing timeline.

Find School Nurse at Rush University Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Rush University Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for School Nurses?
Yes, Rush University Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying healthcare roles including School Nurses. Because H-1B visas are subject to the annual USCIS cap and lottery, timing matters significantly. Rush typically initiates the petition process well in advance of the April filing window, so securing an offer early in the calendar year gives you the best position.
How do I apply for School Nurse jobs at Rush University Medical Center?
Apply directly through Rush University Medical Center's careers portal at rushsystem.org/careers. Search for School Nurse or Student Health Nurse positions and submit your application with your Illinois RN license number, resume, and any relevant certifications. You can also browse verified open roles at Rush that support visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions where international candidates are eligible.
Which visa types does Rush University Medical Center commonly use for School Nurse roles?
Rush sponsors H-1B visas most commonly for clinical nursing roles, including School Nurses. For candidates seeking permanent residence, Rush has used EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways, which involve PERM labor certification through the DOL. J-1 and TN visas are also supported in specific circumstances, and F-1 OPT and CPT holders may be eligible for temporary employment during training periods.
What qualifications does Rush University Medical Center expect for School Nurse positions?
Rush expects candidates to hold an active Illinois Registered Nurse license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at minimum, and experience in pediatric, community health, or school-based care settings. Certifications such as Certified School Nurse (CSN) or NCSN strengthen your application. International nurses educated outside the U.S. must typically complete CGFNS certification and pass NCLEX before Rush can initiate any visa petition.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a School Nurse hired at Rush?
From offer acceptance to authorized start date, the timeline depends on visa type. H-1B cap filings submitted in April have an October 1 start date, meaning a gap of several months is common. If Rush files outside the cap through an affiliated academic entity, processing can be faster, typically two to four months with premium processing available through USCIS. EB-2 and EB-3 pathways take considerably longer due to PERM requirements.
