Job Roles at First Solar Companies
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in First Solar Visa Sponsorship USA
Target engineering and manufacturing roles
First Solar's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical disciplines, think process engineering, electrical engineering, and manufacturing operations. Focusing your application on these areas puts you in line with where the company consistently hires international talent.
Highlight hands-on manufacturing or hardware experience
As an Electronics and Hardware company, First Solar values candidates with practical experience in thin-film technology, semiconductor processes, or production systems. Make that experience prominent, it directly maps to the roles where sponsorship is most likely.
Look for roles at their U.S. manufacturing facilities
First Solar operates large-scale domestic production facilities in Ohio and other U.S. states. Roles tied to these sites tend to have the strongest sponsorship support, since they require specialized technical talent that the company actively recruits internationally.
Start your job search with verified sponsorship data
Not every job listing tells you whether a company will sponsor your visa. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and find First Solar openings where international candidates are genuinely welcome.
Apply early and be ready to move quickly
First Solar's hiring timelines for sponsored roles can move fast, especially for H-1B cap-season filings. Having your documents, degree certificates, transcripts, and employment history, organized before you apply helps you avoid delays when an offer comes through.

Does First Solar sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, First Solar sponsors H-1B visas and is one of the more active sponsors in the clean energy and electronics hardware sector. Sponsorship is most common for engineering and technical roles. If you're targeting First Solar on an H-1B, focus on specialty occupation positions in manufacturing, process engineering, or systems design where your degree field directly aligns with the job.
What visa types does First Solar sponsor?
First Solar sponsors a range of visa types including H-1B, TN, J-1, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students and early-career professionals. The company also supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, making it a meaningful option for international candidates looking for long-term immigration support alongside employment.
Which roles or departments at First Solar are most likely to get visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at First Solar is concentrated in technical and engineering functions, process engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing operations, quality systems, and research and development. These are the areas where the company competes for specialized talent globally. Corporate or administrative roles are less commonly sponsored, so candidates in those fields may face a harder path.
How do I find open jobs at First Solar that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable approach is to search for First Solar on Migrate Mate, which shows verified sponsorship history alongside open roles so you can see exactly which positions are realistic for international candidates. This saves time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship isn't available after you're already in the process.
How do I time my application to First Solar around the H-1B cap?
If you need an H-1B cap-subject petition, First Solar would need to register you in the USCIS lottery in March for an October 1 start date. That means securing an offer well before March. Start outreach in the fall of the prior year, since employers need time for interviews, offers, and internal approvals before the registration window opens.
