Frame your credentials around credit analysis
Fitch evaluates candidates on analytical depth, not just finance credentials broadly. Prepare work samples or case studies that demonstrate sector-specific credit judgment, whether in corporate, structured finance, or sovereign ratings contexts, before you apply.
Identify open roles by ratings sector
Fitch organizes its investment and ratings teams by asset class. Search specifically for analyst roles tied to sectors where you have prior exposure, such as financial institutions or infrastructure, since sponsorship decisions are often made at the team level.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-verified roles
Not every open position at a firm with a sponsorship history will lead to a sponsored offer. Use Migrate Mate to surface Fitch investment roles where sponsorship has been confirmed, so you're targeting openings most likely to result in a filing.
Align your visa category to your degree field
H-1B and E-3 eligibility for investment analyst roles requires a direct connection between your degree field and the position. A finance or economics degree maps cleanly, but a degree in an adjacent field may require your employer to document the specialty occupation connection with USCIS.
Clarify OPT or CPT timelines early in the process
If you're transitioning from F-1 status, confirm your OPT expiration date before your first interview. Fitch's offer and onboarding process takes time, and you need enough authorized work period remaining to allow for H-1B cap filing or a cap-exempt route if applicable.
Understand the PERM timeline if pursuing permanent residence
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, the PERM labor certification process through DOL typically takes 12 to 18 months before an I-140 petition can be filed. Ask during the offer stage whether Fitch has an established policy for initiating PERM for investment analyst tracks.

Find Investment at Fitch Ratings JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Investments?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying investment and credit analyst roles. Sponsorship is typically tied to roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, which for investment positions generally means a degree requirement in finance, economics, accounting, or a closely related field. Sponsorship decisions are made at the team and role level, so it's worth confirming during the offer process.
How do I apply for Investment jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch's careers portal, where roles are listed by business group and location. For investment and ratings analyst positions, the process typically includes an initial screening, technical or case-based interviews, and a final round. You can also browse open roles filtered by sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Fitch investment positions confirmed to consider sponsored candidates.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly sponsor for Investment roles?
Fitch sponsors several visa categories for investment roles, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for current students. For candidates seeking permanent residence, Fitch has a track record of supporting EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for analysts on longer-term employment tracks.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for Investment positions?
Investment roles at Fitch generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting, or a related quantitative field. Analytical roles in credit ratings often prioritize sector knowledge, financial modeling skills, and the ability to produce clear written analysis. CFA candidacy or progress is viewed favorably for mid-level and senior analyst positions, though it is not always a hard requirement at entry level.
How do I time my application given visa processing requirements?
Timing depends on your current status. F-1 OPT holders should apply well before their authorization expires, since H-1B cap filings have an April 1 registration window with an October 1 start date, leaving a potential gap. E-3 and TN visas process faster and can often be arranged closer to a start date. Candidates already in H-1B status at another employer can transfer to Fitch with portability rights once a petition is filed with USCIS.
