Align your background with ratings methodology
Fitch's Development Director roles in Investment and Asset Management require demonstrated fluency in credit analysis, ratings criteria, or structured finance. Before applying, audit your resume to surface specific deal exposure, sector coverage, or client-facing work that maps directly to Fitch's product lines.
Research which visa category fits your situation
Fitch sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT across development roles, but each category has different employer obligations and timelines. Knowing which path applies to you before interviews means you can answer sponsorship questions confidently instead of stalling the offer process.
Target open roles through Migrate Mate
Browse Development Director openings at Fitch Ratings on Migrate Mate, where listings are filtered by visa sponsorship history. This saves you from applying to roles where sponsorship support is uncertain and focuses your effort on positions Fitch has actively sponsored before.
Time your application around H-1B cap deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. Structure your Fitch application timeline so an offer can realistically be secured before the registration window, since cap-subject petitions filed outside this window won't take effect until the following fiscal year.
Prepare a PERM-ready credentials package early
For Development Director roles leading to Green Card sponsorship via EB-2 or EB-3, Fitch's legal team will need detailed employment history, degree certificates, and foreign credential evaluations. Gathering these documents before the offer stage avoids delays once the PERM labor certification process begins with the DOL.
Address specialty occupation qualification directly
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for financial services roles that could be interpreted as general management. Ensure your offer letter specifies the theoretical and practical application of financial analysis or capital markets expertise, not just business development duties, to satisfy the specialty occupation standard.

Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Development Directors?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Development Director roles. As a global financial services firm with established international hiring practices, Fitch works with immigration counsel to file H-1B petitions for qualifying candidates. Cap-subject applicants need to align offer timelines with the USCIS annual registration window, which opens in March for an October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Development Director jobs at Fitch Ratings?
You can browse and apply for Development Director roles at Fitch Ratings directly through Migrate Mate, which surfaces open positions filtered by visa sponsorship history. Applications typically require a resume tailored to credit analysis, structured finance, or client relationship work relevant to Fitch's ratings business. Reaching out to Fitch's talent acquisition team after submitting can also strengthen your candidacy.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly use for Development Director roles?
Fitch Ratings sponsors multiple visa categories for Development Director positions, including the H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals under the USMCA, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates. Longer-term candidates may also pursue Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 classification, depending on role requirements and individual qualifications.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for Development Director candidates?
Fitch typically looks for candidates with a background in credit research, structured finance, capital markets, or institutional client coverage. A relevant advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field strengthens H-1B specialty occupation qualification. Sector-specific experience, whether in asset management, insurance, or financial institutions, is weighted heavily given how Fitch organizes its ratings and analytics business lines.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Development Director offer at Fitch Ratings?
Timeline depends on visa category. H-1B cap-subject cases require registration in March with employment beginning October 1, so the full cycle can span six to nine months from application to start date. E-3 and TN visas process faster, often within a few weeks of an approved offer. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship through the DOL typically adds one to three years on top of the initial work visa.
