Frame your credentials around ratings methodology
Fitch evaluates Professional Services Consultants on their ability to support analytical frameworks. Translate your finance or data background into specific methodology-adjacent experience before applying, so your resume maps directly to the role's analytical demands.
Target Fitch's structured sponsorship pathways early
Fitch sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT across this function. If you're on OPT, apply with enough runway to allow for H-1B cap-gap coverage, since the April lottery deadline is firm and late applications leave no buffer.
Distinguish your consulting focus in your application
Fitch hires Professional Services Consultants across credit ratings, data products, and client solutions. Specifying which business line you're targeting, such as structured finance or financial institutions, signals fit and accelerates internal routing to the right hiring team.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation in advance
For H-1B or E-3 petitions, USCIS requires evidence of a qualifying specialty occupation degree. If your credential is from outside the U.S., secure a credential evaluation before your offer stage so Fitch's legal team can file without delays.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles by visa type
Filtering by visa category helps you prioritize Fitch openings that match your current status. Use Migrate Mate to surface Professional Services Consultant listings at Fitch filtered by the visa types you're eligible for before reaching out to recruiters.
Clarify LCA filing timing with HR before accepting
Fitch must file a certified Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B or E-3 petition. Confirm this step is in progress before you give notice to a current employer, since LCA processing typically takes one to three weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Professional Services Consultants?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Professional Services Consultants. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation given its requirements in finance, economics, or a related analytical field. Sponsorship typically involves your employer filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, followed by an H-1B petition with USCIS. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions are lottery-based, timing your application cycle correctly is critical.
How do I apply for Professional Services Consultant jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch Ratings' careers portal, where roles are listed by business line and location. You can also browse current Professional Services Consultant openings at Fitch filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate. Tailor your application to the specific analytical domain the role covers, whether that's corporate ratings, structured finance, or data solutions, since generic applications tend to stall at the screening stage.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly use for Professional Services Consultant roles?
Fitch sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for this function. Australian citizens are well-positioned with the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and allows two-year renewable periods. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN visa. F-1 students can begin on OPT and transition to H-1B through the April lottery process.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for Professional Services Consultant candidates?
Fitch typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, accounting, or a quantitative field. For H-1B and E-3 purposes, the degree must align with the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies. Practical experience in credit analysis, financial modeling, or client-facing advisory work strengthens both your candidacy and the strength of the visa petition Fitch files on your behalf.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving an offer from Fitch Ratings?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN petitions can move within weeks since neither is subject to an annual lottery. H-1B sponsorship for cap-subject candidates follows a fixed annual cycle, with petitions filed in April for an October 1 start date. USCIS standard processing for an H-1B petition runs three to five months, though premium processing can reduce that to roughly 15 business days.
