Align your credentials to U.S. CPA standards
Fitch's accounting roles frequently require CPA licensure or active candidacy. If your qualifications are from outside the U.S., get a formal credential evaluation through NACES to confirm equivalency before applying.
Target roles tied to regulatory reporting functions
Fitch hires Accountants specifically for SEC reporting, fund accounting, and internal controls work. Applying to these specialized tracks signals genuine fit and reduces the employer's hesitation around sponsorship costs for a focused hire.
Search Fitch Accountant openings through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Fitch Ratings Accountant roles by visa type. You can identify which positions are actively open to H-1B or E-3 candidates without sifting through postings that exclude sponsorship.
Clarify your OPT or CPT timeline before interviews
If you're on F-1 OPT, be ready to confirm your exact authorization end date. Fitch's HR teams need to assess whether your OPT window allows enough time to prepare and file an H-1B petition before the April 1 filing deadline.
Understand how Fitch structures the LCA filing
For H-1B roles, Fitch must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before petitioning USCIS. Ask your recruiter which law firm handles their immigration filings so you know who to coordinate with once an offer is extended.
Position PERM experience early for Green Card conversations
Fitch sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for long-term hires. If you have five or more years in credit rating, fund accounting, or financial reporting, raise your interest in permanent residency during offer negotiations rather than after onboarding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Fitch Ratings sponsor H-1B visas for Accountants?
Yes, Fitch Ratings sponsors H-1B visas for Accountant roles. The company has an established immigration program that covers both initial H-1B cap-subject petitions and extensions. Because H-1B selection depends on the annual lottery run by USCIS, timing your application around the April 1 filing window is essential, and Fitch's HR team typically coordinates with outside immigration counsel to manage this process.
How do I apply for Accountant jobs at Fitch Ratings?
Applications go through Fitch Ratings' careers portal at fitchratings.com. Search for Accountant, Financial Reporting, or Fund Accounting roles and apply directly. You can also browse visa-sponsored Accountant openings at Fitch on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by sponsorship eligibility so you can confirm the role is open to international candidates before investing time in the application.
Which visa types does Fitch Ratings commonly sponsor for Accountant roles?
Fitch sponsors H-1B visas for most Accountant hires requiring specialty occupation status. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3 visa, which is a strong alternative since it has no lottery and can be renewed indefinitely. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying accounting roles. Fitch also supports F-1 OPT and CPT during student work authorization periods, and sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for longer-tenured employees.
What qualifications does Fitch Ratings expect for sponsored Accountant positions?
Most Accountant roles at Fitch require a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA licensure or active candidacy is frequently listed as a requirement or strong preference, particularly for roles involving SEC reporting or fund accounting. Familiarity with U.S. GAAP, internal controls frameworks, and financial statement preparation is expected. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, which accounting positions typically satisfy when a specific degree is required.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Fitch Ratings as an Accountant?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN visas can be processed in weeks through consular appointment or port of entry. H-1B petitions filed under regular processing take three to five months after the October 1 fiscal year start date, while USCIS premium processing reduces that to around 15 business days. Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification takes considerably longer, often two to four years or more depending on your country of birth and priority date movement.
