Frame your experience around deal structures
Hilton's development team works across franchise, management, and ownership deal types. When preparing your resume and portfolio, organize your experience around specific transaction structures you've led, not just markets or regions. Generic development experience won't stand out.
Target Hilton's regional development offices directly
Hilton staffs development teams by region, so roles in markets like the Americas, EMEA, and APAC operate somewhat independently. Research which regional office aligns with your deal experience and address your application to that pipeline, not just the general careers portal.
Understand how H-2B applies to your situation
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural workers and is typically tied to seasonal or peak-demand needs. Before pursuing an H-2B-dependent path at Hilton, confirm with USCIS guidance whether your Development Director role qualifies as temporary, since salaried strategic roles can face scrutiny under this classification.
Clarify sponsorship timing before your final interview round
Hilton's HR process for Director-level roles moves through multiple interview stages before an offer is extended. Raise visa sponsorship during the offer negotiation stage, not earlier, and confirm whether Hilton's legal team or an outside counsel handles the filing to set realistic start-date expectations.
Build credentials that reflect U.S. hospitality development norms
U.S. hotel development involves specific financial modeling standards, brand approval processes, and market feasibility tools that differ from other regions. Certifications or training from hospitality real estate associations strengthen your application by signaling you can operate within Hilton's U.S.-specific development framework from day one.
Search Hilton's open development roles on Migrate Mate
Development Director openings at Hilton are spread across markets and are often filled quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track Hilton's active development postings that include visa sponsorship, so you can apply as soon as a relevant role opens in your target region.

Does Hilton sponsor H-1B visas for Development Directors?
Hilton does sponsor work visas for Development Director roles, though the specific visa type depends on the candidate's nationality, qualifications, and the nature of the position. H-1B is the most common path for specialty occupation roles, but eligibility requires a qualifying bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Hilton's legal or HR team will confirm the appropriate visa category during the offer process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Development Director roles at Hilton?
Development Director roles at Hilton can be filled through several visa pathways. H-1B applies when the role meets the specialty occupation standard. L-1A is an option for candidates transferring from a Hilton entity outside the United States in a managerial capacity. H-2B has also been used for temporary or project-based development work, though its applicability to senior salaried roles warrants careful review with USCIS guidance.
What qualifications or experience does Hilton expect for Development Director roles?
Hilton's Development Director positions typically require a background in hotel real estate, transactions, or franchise development, often with a degree in finance, real estate, business, or a related field. Candidates with experience structuring management or franchise agreements and working with institutional owners or investors are strongly positioned. Familiarity with U.S. hotel brand standards and market feasibility analysis is a practical differentiator.
How do I apply for Development Director jobs at Hilton?
You can apply through Hilton's careers portal or find visa-sponsoring Development Director openings filtered by role and company on Migrate Mate. Hilton's development hiring moves through multiple interview rounds, often involving regional development leadership and finance stakeholders. Tailoring your application to the specific regional team and deal types relevant to that market increases your chances of progressing through the process.
How do I plan my timeline when Hilton is sponsoring my visa for a Development Director role?
Visa processing timelines vary by type. H-1B petitions filed under the standard cap follow a lottery in March for an October 1 start date, so your offer timing needs to align with that cycle or qualify for a cap-exempt filing. L-1A transfers can move faster with premium processing through USCIS. Build at least three to six months of runway between your offer and your intended start date to account for filing preparation and government processing.
