Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Development Director Jobs at Qualcomm Jobs
Frame Your Portfolio Around Platform Strategy
Qualcomm's media and entertainment work centers on codec technology, streaming platforms, and device-level experiences. Development Director candidates should document portfolio achievements in terms of platform roadmap ownership and cross-functional delivery, not just project completion.
Identify Openings Through DOL LCA Disclosures
DOL's OFLC disclosure data shows certified Labor Condition Applications by employer and job title. Searching for Qualcomm LCA filings under development director titles reveals which business units are actively staffing, giving you a targeting edge before roles are widely advertised.
Clarify Your Visa Category Before Conversations Start
Qualcomm sponsors multiple visa types including H-1B, TN, and F-1 OPT. Walking into recruiter calls knowing which category applies to your citizenship and degree field prevents missteps. TN applies only to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations, and F-1 OPT has a hard cap on authorized employment duration.
Align Your Offer Timing With H-1B Cap Deadlines
If you need an H-1B, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start. A Development Director offer finalized after April without an existing H-1B means waiting nearly a year. Raise this timing constraint with your recruiter early so Qualcomm's immigration counsel can plan accordingly.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Qualcomm Openings Filtered by Sponsorship
Browse Development Director roles at Qualcomm on Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by visa sponsorship type. This lets you confirm which active openings match your visa category before investing time in applications or recruiter outreach.
Prepare for Employment Verification Through E-Verify
Qualcomm participates in E-Verify, the federal system that confirms work authorization against DHS and SSA records. Have your I-94, visa stamp, and any existing EAD documentation organized before your start date to prevent onboarding delays that can affect your authorized employment period.

Does Qualcomm sponsor H-1B visas for Development Directors?
Yes, Qualcomm sponsors H-1B visas for Development Director roles. The company works with experienced immigration counsel to manage petitions, including premium processing when timelines require it. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, Qualcomm can transition you to H-1B status, though you'll need to align your offer timing with USCIS's annual registration window, which opens each March.
How do I apply for Development Director jobs at Qualcomm?
Applications go through Qualcomm's careers portal at qualcomm.com/careers. Development Director roles typically require submitting a resume and completing a structured interview process that includes behavioral, technical, and leadership rounds. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse current Qualcomm Development Director openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, so you're targeting roles that match your authorization status before applying.
Which visa types does Qualcomm commonly use for Development Director roles?
Qualcomm sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for most Development Director hires, with H-1B covering the broadest range of nationalities. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. For candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 status, Qualcomm supports both OPT and CPT employment, and EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is available for longer-term permanent residence pathways.
What qualifications does Qualcomm expect for Development Director candidates?
Qualcomm's Development Director roles in media and entertainment typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, combined with substantial experience leading cross-functional engineering or product teams. Experience with streaming technologies, codec development, or device-level media integration is relevant. Director-level roles generally require demonstrated ownership of multi-year platform roadmaps and experience managing senior engineering contributors.
How do I navigate the visa filing process once I have a Qualcomm offer?
Once you have a signed offer, Qualcomm's legal team initiates the sponsorship process, starting with a Labor Condition Application certified by the DOL, which must be approved before an H-1B petition can be filed with USCIS. The full timeline from LCA filing to USCIS approval runs roughly three to six months under standard processing. Confirm with your Qualcomm recruiter at the offer stage whether premium processing is available for your role and visa category.
