ROLE DESCRIPTION
Form Energy is hiring an NPI Project Engineer to own the introduction and implementation of mechanical product and process changes into our Weirton, WV manufacturing facility. This role sits within Operations Engineering and works in close partnership with our Technical Program Manager to ensure that every change — from next-generation pack-level design updates to equipment and process iterations — lands in production in a controlled, quality-safe, and schedule-conscious way. You will help build the systems, workflows, and standards that define how Form Energy scales new products into manufacturing. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape a critical function at a company developing breakthrough technology for long-duration energy storage. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
- Own the end-to-end introduction of mechanical product and process changes into the manufacturing line, with initial focus on battery pack systems
- Map all incoming engineering changes against production line state, identifying risks to quality, throughput, and schedule before cutover
- Lead production trials for new or modified designs — defining trial plans, success criteria, timing, and documenting outcomes
- Drive structured cutover planning, coordinating timing across engineering, supply chain, warehouse, and production to ensure clean transitions with no unplanned disruption
- Translate engineering changes into manufacturing execution language — work orders, Oracle transactions, line flow impacts, and BOM/routing updates
- Partner closely with the TPM to maintain change visibility, milestone tracking, and cross-functional alignment across all active NPI efforts
- Serve as the operations voice in design reviews and change control processes, pushing back on changes that lack manufacturing readiness
- Help develop NPI systems and standards — change intake, readiness criteria, trial governance, and cutover checklists — as this function matures
What you'll bring:
- 6–10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, NPI, or engineering change management in a high-complexity production environment (automotive, aerospace, energy, or similar)
- Demonstrated experience managing product or process changes into a live manufacturing line, including trial execution, change control, and cutover coordination
- Hands-on familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred) including work order flow, BOM management, and routing
- Strong mechanical systems intuition — ability to read engineering drawings, understand pack/module assembly processes, and assess change impact on production
- Proven ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and build structure where little exists
- Excellent cross-functional communication — comfortable engaging engineering, supply chain, warehouse, and production teams simultaneously
WHERE YOU'LL WORK:
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that. Form Energy offers competitive salaries, stock options, and a holistic benefits package to ensure all employees have what they need to thrive while working here.
When it comes to you and your family’s health, we cover 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for full-time employees - and 80% of healthcare premiums for dependents. This starts from day one. We also offer at least 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents (up to 20 weeks for birthing parents), and generous vacation policies to give employees time to recharge when needed.
To build America’s energy future, we need everyone at the table. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply to our open jobs.
If you may require reasonable accommodations to participate in our interview process, please contact accommodations@formenergy.com. Requests for accommodations will be treated with discretion.
Form Energy is committed to maintaining the privacy of our applicants. Please be aware that we will never solicit sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers or bank account details during the recruiting or hiring process.

Align your credentials to hardware milestones
Form Energy's Project Manager roles emphasize production readiness and hardware integration timelines. Frame your resume around delivered milestones in physical product development or manufacturing ramp-up, not just software or services project experience.
Target roles tied to facility expansion
Form Energy is scaling manufacturing operations, so Project Manager openings tied to plant build-out or equipment commissioning attract strong sponsorship commitment. Filter your search by location and function to find roles with the most active headcount investment.
Verify your OPT timeline before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window against Form Energy's typical hiring cycle. Roles in hardware-heavy environments often require onboarding periods of several months before an H-1B petition would be filed with USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsored openings
Not every Project Manager listing at Form Energy specifies sponsorship eligibility upfront. Use Migrate Mate to surface roles where Form Energy has a verified sponsorship history for this function, so you're applying with full confidence.
Prepare a prevailing wage conversation early
For H-1B petitions, DOL requires your employer to meet prevailing wage thresholds for your specific job title and work location. Research the wage level for Project Managers in Form Energy's operating regions before your offer negotiation, so there are no surprises at filing.
Get PMP or hardware-adjacent certifications documented
Form Energy's project management function spans cross-functional engineering teams. Having your PMP certification or equivalent formal credentials organized and ready to include in a USCIS petition strengthens the specialty occupation case for the role.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Form Energy sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Form Energy sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. The company operates in the electronics and hardware manufacturing space, where project management functions routinely qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. If you're targeting this role, confirm sponsorship intent during the offer stage and clarify whether the company uses premium processing to meet your start date.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Form Energy?
Apply directly through Form Energy's careers page or use Migrate Mate to find Project Manager listings where visa sponsorship has been confirmed for this role type. When you apply, tailor your materials to Form Energy's hardware manufacturing context, specifically referencing experience with production ramp-up, cross-functional team coordination, or supply chain execution relevant to energy storage systems.
Which visa types does Form Energy commonly use for Project Manager roles?
Form Energy sponsors across several categories for this function, including H-1B, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students currently in authorized training periods. For longer-term pathways, the company has also pursued employment-based Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications, which typically require a PERM labor certification filed with the DOL.
What qualifications does Form Energy expect for sponsored Project Manager positions?
Expect a strong preference for candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, or a related technical field, combined with demonstrated experience managing hardware or manufacturing projects. PMP certification strengthens your application. Given Form Energy's focus on physical product and production systems, experience with cross-functional coordination in a hardware environment carries more weight than general business project management experience.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Project Manager role at Form Energy?
The H-1B cap-subject filing window opens April 1 each year, with a lottery registration period in March. If you're on OPT and your authorization expires before October 1, you'll need cap-gap protection to bridge the gap. Start conversations with Form Energy's recruiting team well before March to confirm sponsorship intent and allow time for your employer to prepare the USCIS petition and supporting documentation.
