ROLE DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a strong focus on procurement, inspection, inventory control and design for manufacturability for plastic and metal parts, and process engineering ownership of inspection stations. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in procuring off the shelf and custom parts for development builds, providing feedback to designers and suppliers for manufacturability, optimizing IQC and downstream metrology station process flows, and processing quality data for stakeholder use and defect investigations. Your primary objective will be to ensure our build line is supplied with parts that can consistently produce development batteries that meet our stringent specifications, focusing heavily on process engineering excellence, and robust quality control.
You will act as a bridge between our internal supply chain, R&D/design teams and external suppliers, translating development product specifications into actionable manufacturing and inspection processes. A deep understanding of process development, and analytical inspection methodologies is paramount to success in this position. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!
What you'll do:
- Develop, validate, and implement appropriate inspection and test methods to verify part adherence to specifications from IQC through delivery to the battery test team.
- Identify new suppliers and partner closely with them to assess their capabilities, identify potential risks, and drive continuous improvement in their manufacturing operations to make quick turn prototype and low-mid volume build parts.
- Procure on-time, in-spec parts to serve a fast paced R&D environment.
- Thoroughly understand complex manufacturing methods, materials, and tradeoffs to be able to provide critical feedback to internal teams on manufacturability, inspection feasibility, and cost implications.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for supplier-related material quality issues, driving sustainable solutions.
What you'll bring:
- 4+ years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or supplier quality engineering, with a strong emphasis on plastics, metal or mechanical assembly processes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Solid understanding of material specifications, statistical process control (SPC), process capability (Cpk) and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
- Demonstrated expertise in CAD drawing development and review (GD&T, Special Characteristics, etc.).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as required.

Document Your Process Engineering Credentials Early
Form Energy's manufacturing roles require demonstrated experience with production process development and quality systems. Gather project portfolios, equipment qualification records, and any lean or Six Sigma certifications before applying, so your credentials are ready when sponsorship conversations start.
Target Roles Aligned With Battery Cell Production
Form Energy focuses on iron-air battery manufacturing at scale. Prioritize applying to roles that reference cell assembly, electrode processing, or factory ramp-up, where your background in high-volume or capital-intensive hardware manufacturing will directly support their sponsorship case to USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Sponsorship Openings
Not every Manufacturing Engineer posting at Form Energy will surface on general job boards with sponsorship details. Use Migrate Mate to filter confirmed sponsorship-eligible roles so you're only investing time in positions the company has actively sponsored for your visa type.
Confirm Your Visa Type Compatibility Before Offer Stage
Form Energy sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, and Green Card pathways, but eligibility depends on your citizenship and degree field. If you're on OPT, verify your STEM extension eligibility and E-Verify enrollment status with HR before the offer is finalized to avoid timeline gaps.
Align Your Start Date With H-1B Cap Timelines
If you need a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS only accepts petitions in April for an October 1 start. Work backward from that date when negotiating your offer, and ask Form Energy's immigration team whether they'll file under premium processing to confirm approval before you resign from a current role.
Build a PERM-Ready Employment History File
Green Card sponsorship through PERM requires DOL to verify no qualified U.S. workers were displaced. Keep a clean record of your job titles, duties, and employer-verified experience letters, so Form Energy's legal team can move quickly if they initiate a PERM labor certification on your behalf.

Find Manufacturing Engineer at Form Energy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Form Energy sponsor H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineers?
Yes, Form Energy sponsors H-1B visas for Manufacturing Engineer roles. Because the H-1B requires a specialty occupation and a qualifying degree, you'll want to ensure your engineering background aligns with the specific process or production function the role covers. Form Energy works with immigration counsel, so once an offer is extended, the filing process is structured and employer-driven.
How do I apply for Manufacturing Engineer jobs at Form Energy?
Apply directly through Form Energy's careers page, or use Migrate Mate to browse and filter their Manufacturing Engineer openings by visa sponsorship type. Tailor your resume to highlight production process experience, equipment qualification, and any background in hardware or energy manufacturing. Mention your work authorization status early so the recruiter can confirm fit before moving to a technical screen.
Which visa types does Form Energy commonly use for Manufacturing Engineers?
Form Energy sponsors H-1B, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for this function. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates entering production or process engineering roles, while H-1B and PERM-based Green Card sponsorship are typical for mid-level hires with several years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
What qualifications does Form Energy expect for sponsored Manufacturing Engineer roles?
Form Energy's Manufacturing Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or manufacturing engineering. Hands-on experience with process development, root cause analysis, and production line scaling is heavily weighted. Background in battery, semiconductor, or other capital-intensive hardware manufacturing is a strong differentiator, particularly as the company continues scaling its iron-air battery factory operations.
How do visa sponsorship timelines work for a Manufacturing Engineer offer at Form Energy?
Timeline depends on your current status. F-1 OPT holders can start within days of an offer if E-Verify clears. H-1B transfers for existing visa holders can take four to six weeks with premium processing. New H-1B registrations follow USCIS's annual April lottery, with employment beginning October 1 at the earliest, so build that window into your negotiation if you're not already in H-1B status.
