Align your credentials to hardware development
Form Energy's mechanical engineering work centers on electrochemical cell design and manufacturing-scale hardware. Credential your degree and portfolio around thermal systems, materials selection, or DFM to match what their engineering teams are actually building.
Search DOL filings for LCA wage benchmarks
Before negotiating an offer, pull Form Energy's Labor Condition Application filings on the DOL's OFLC public disclosure portal. This shows you the prevailing wage tier they've committed to for mechanical engineering roles, so you're not walking in blind.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Form Energy openings by visa type
Not every mechanical engineering posting at Form Energy will flag visa sponsorship explicitly. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by the specific visa types Form Energy sponsors, so you're only applying to positions where your work authorization will be supported.
Prepare for an OPT-to-H-1B transition conversation early
If you're on F-1 OPT, the H-1B cap registration window opens in March. Raise the sponsorship timeline with your recruiter before offer stage, not after, so both sides can plan around the registration deadline and any gap in your work authorization.
Frame battery hardware experience in specialty occupation terms
USCIS evaluates H-1B eligibility on whether the role requires a specific bachelor's degree field. Emphasize that Form Energy's mechanical roles demand specialized knowledge in electrochemical systems or precision manufacturing, not just general engineering, to strengthen the specialty occupation argument.
Clarify Green Card pathway timing during offer negotiation
Form Energy sponsors EB-2 and EB-3, but PERM labor certification timelines can stretch well beyond a year. Ask your hiring contact directly whether the company initiates PERM during H-1B status and what their typical timeline looks like for engineering roles.

Find Mechanical Engineer at Form Energy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Form Energy sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Form Energy sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. Because H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, your employer needs to submit a registration in March for an October 1 start. If you're already on H-1B with a different employer, a transfer is possible without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Form Energy?
You can apply directly through Form Energy's careers page or find their open Mechanical Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate. Before applying, review the job description carefully for references to hardware systems, thermal management, or manufacturing experience, since Form Energy's engineering teams work on physical energy storage products, not software.
Which visa types does Form Energy commonly use for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Form Energy sponsors H-1B, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, EB-2, and EB-3 for engineering positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are entry points for recent graduates, H-1B covers longer-term employment, and TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines. EB-2 and EB-3 are the permanent residence pathways for engineers who reach that stage.
What qualifications does Form Energy expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Form Energy's mechanical engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, which also satisfies the USCIS specialty occupation requirement for H-1B purposes. Hands-on experience with product design, prototyping, thermal systems, or manufacturing processes is consistently relevant given that the company builds physical hardware at scale.
How do I time my visa sponsorship conversation with Form Energy during the hiring process?
Raise visa sponsorship in the first substantive recruiter conversation, not after receiving an offer. For H-1B cap cases, the March registration window is a hard deadline that affects start dates. For TN, processing can happen quickly at a port of entry. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship under EB-2 or EB-3, ask specifically whether Form Energy initiates the process while you're on H-1B status, since PERM timelines regularly run beyond a year.
