Frame your retail operations experience precisely
Gap's Business Operations teams prioritize candidates with exposure to inventory planning, vendor management, or omnichannel logistics. Tailor your resume to reflect retail-specific workflows, not generic operations language, so your specialty occupation case is clear from the first screen.
Target roles tied to Gap's core brands
Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta each run distinct planning and operations functions under the Gap Inc. umbrella. Applying to a brand whose customer profile matches your background gives you a more focused conversation during interviews and a stronger fit narrative with the hiring team.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Gap sponsors multiple visa types for this function. Knowing whether your situation fits H-1B, E-3, TN, or F-1 OPT before negotiations start prevents timeline surprises. Different categories have different employer obligations, and Gap's HR team will need that clarity early.
Align your job search with Gap's annual hiring cycle
Gap tends to ramp up corporate hiring in late winter and early spring to align with fiscal planning cycles. If you're on F-1 OPT, map your application timeline so an offer can realistically land before your OPT expiration window forces a status gap.
Confirm the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires that H-1B positions normally require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Business Operations roles vary widely in how they're defined, so ask the recruiter directly how the position has been classified in previous filings to avoid a last-minute petition complication.
Use Migrate Mate to surface Gap openings by visa type
Filtering by both employer and sponsored visa category saves time when you're targeting a specific company. Migrate Mate lets you browse Business Operations roles at Gap filtered by the visa types they actively sponsor, so you're not guessing about eligibility before applying.

Does Gap sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Gap sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. The position must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning it normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as supply chain management, finance, or business analytics. Roles that are broadly defined or lack a clear degree requirement can face scrutiny, so it's worth confirming classification with the recruiter before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Gap?
Applications go through Gap Inc.'s careers portal, where roles are listed by brand and function. For international candidates, the most effective approach is to filter for corporate positions in San Francisco or New York, where sponsorship-eligible Business Operations roles are most concentrated. Migrate Mate also aggregates Gap's sponsored openings so you can browse specifically by visa category before applying, which helps you prioritize roles where your status is already a known fit.
Which visa types does Gap commonly use for Business Operations roles?
Gap sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for candidates from eligible countries, E-3 visas for Australian nationals, and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying occupational categories. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported for students in active programs. For longer-term pathways, Gap has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas, which require a PERM labor certification filed through the Department of Labor before the immigrant petition can proceed.
What qualifications does Gap expect for Business Operations candidates who need sponsorship?
Most Business Operations roles at Gap require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, or a related analytical field. Roles involving retail planning or vendor operations often expect two to four years of relevant industry experience. Because sponsorship requires demonstrating a specialty occupation to USCIS, candidates with degrees that directly map to the role's core function, rather than a general business background, tend to have a stronger petition foundation.
How do I think about timing if I'm on F-1 OPT and targeting Gap?
If you're on F-1 OPT, the critical constraint is the H-1B cap-subject lottery, which USCIS opens for registration in March each year with an October 1 start date. Gap would need to register you for the lottery by late March, which means having an offer in hand by February or early March gives you the most realistic path. STEM OPT extension, if your degree qualifies, buys up to 24 additional months and allows two more lottery attempts if you don't get selected the first time.
