Frame your resume around client-facing technical delivery
GEI Consultants staffs Software Consultants on project teams serving engineering and environmental clients. Resumes that show end-to-end project ownership, stakeholder communication, and domain-specific technical skills perform better than those listing tools alone.
Target roles aligned with active project pipelines
Consulting firms hire Software Consultants against specific client engagements, not just headcount plans. Roles posted across multiple locations or marked urgent often reflect billable demand, which shortens the gap between offer and sponsorship filing.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation early
H-1B specialty occupation requirements mean GEI's HR team will need to confirm your role qualifies and your degree aligns with it. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a foreign credential evaluation done before your final interview rounds.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Software Consultant roles at GEI
Filtering by visa type and employer on Migrate Mate lets you identify active Software Consultant openings at GEI Consultants that match your sponsorship eligibility, so you're applying to roles where the company is already set up to sponsor.

Does GEI Consultants sponsor H-1B visas for Software Consultants?
Yes, GEI Consultants sponsors H-1B visas for Software Consultant roles. The H-1B is a common pathway for this position given the specialty occupation requirements it typically satisfies. GEI's experience with the H-1B process means their HR and legal teams are familiar with the LCA filing through USCIS petition workflow, which reduces friction for candidates who need full sponsorship.
How do I apply for Software Consultant jobs at GEI Consultants?
You can browse open Software Consultant positions at GEI Consultants directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. GEI's hiring process typically involves technical screening followed by project-fit interviews. Flagging your visa situation early in the process helps the recruiting team confirm sponsorship feasibility before you get deep into the pipeline.
Which visa types does GEI Consultants commonly use for Software Consultant roles?
GEI Consultants supports several visa categories for Software Consultants, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT for students still completing their degree, J-1, and immigrant pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term candidates. The right category depends on your nationality, current status, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does GEI Consultants expect for Software Consultant roles?
GEI typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, along with hands-on experience in software development or systems integration relevant to consulting engagements. For H-1B purposes, the role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation, so your degree field and job duties should align clearly. Project-based experience in professional services environments is a strong differentiator.
How do I time my application if I'm on F-1 OPT and need H-1B sponsorship?
If you're on F-1 OPT, you'll want GEI to file your H-1B petition during the annual registration window, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. Starting your job search in the fall or winter gives you enough runway to complete GEI's hiring process before the March deadline. If selected in the lottery, cap-gap provisions under USCIS rules protect your work authorization through the transition.
