Align your credentials to U.S. CPA standards
If your accounting qualifications are from outside the U.S., get a NASBA credential evaluation before applying. Genentech's Finance hiring teams look for U.S.-recognizable credentials, and an evaluation removes ambiguity early in the screening process.
Target roles in FP&A and commercial finance
Genentech's Finance openings are concentrated in financial planning, commercial analytics, and business partnering for its medical devices and diagnostics divisions. Positioning your experience around forecasting, product P&L, or clinical cost modeling will resonate with their hiring priorities.
Search for open Finance roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Genentech's Finance listings by visa type so you're only applying to roles where your sponsorship category is a confirmed fit. It saves time you'd otherwise spend screening job descriptions manually.
Understand how PERM affects your Green Card timeline
Finance roles at Genentech are typically classified under EB-2 or EB-3, which require PERM labor certification through DOL. Processing can take 12 to 18 months before the I-140 petition stage, so negotiate a start date that gives your employer enough runway.
Reference Roche's financial reporting structure in interviews
Genentech operates as a Roche subsidiary, so Finance candidates who demonstrate familiarity with IFRS reporting alongside U.S. GAAP stand out. Interviewers frequently ask about multi-entity consolidation and intercompany transfer pricing in the context of a global parent.

Find Finance at Genentech JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Genentech sponsor H-1B visas for Finance roles?
Yes, Genentech sponsors H-1B visas for Finance positions. The company has an established immigration program and works with outside counsel to file H-1B petitions, including the Labor Condition Application through DOL. Finance roles in financial planning, accounting, and commercial analytics have been sponsored under this pathway. If you're in the H-1B lottery pool, Genentech's size and infrastructure mean the process is generally well-managed once you receive an offer.
How do I apply for Finance jobs at Genentech?
Applications go through Genentech's careers portal at gene.com. Finance roles are posted under the Finance and Accounting category. You can also browse verified sponsorship-eligible openings on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa type so you can confirm your sponsorship category is supported before applying. Tailoring your resume to highlight FP&A, business partnering, or cost accounting experience relevant to biotech or medical devices will strengthen your application.
Which visa types does Genentech commonly use for Finance positions?
Genentech sponsors H-1B visas most frequently for Finance roles, along with F-1 OPT and CPT for early-career candidates. TN status is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying Finance occupations. For longer-term sponsorship, Genentech supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification, typically for mid-level and senior Finance professionals who have already established themselves in the organization.
What qualifications does Genentech expect for Finance roles?
Most Finance positions at Genentech require a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, with a CPA or CFA credential expected for senior accounting and financial reporting roles. Experience in a large, matrixed organization is valued, and familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems is frequently listed as a requirement. Candidates with biotech, pharmaceutical, or medical devices industry backgrounds have a meaningful advantage given the complexity of product revenue and clinical cost structures.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Finance hire at Genentech?
For H-1B, the timeline depends on where you are in the process. If you're already in the U.S. on OPT, Genentech can file an H-1B petition for the October 1 start date following the April lottery. USCIS standard processing takes three to five months; premium processing reduces that to 15 business days. For Green Card sponsorship through PERM, expect the full EB-2 or EB-3 process to run two to three years or longer depending on your country of birth and the DOL backlog at the time of filing.
