Frame your science background as commercial readiness
Genentech's Sales hiring managers expect candidates who can translate complex biologics data into clinical conversations. Before applying, document specific examples where your technical knowledge drove a business outcome, not just product familiarity.
Target roles aligned with your visa category
Genentech sponsors multiple visa types for Sales, but the petition requirements differ by category. If you're on F-1 OPT, apply early enough that a full H-1B sponsorship cycle can begin before your OPT window closes, accounting for the April lottery registration deadline.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter Sales openings at Genentech by visa type on Migrate Mate to confirm which roles align with your authorization category before investing time in the application process.
Align your territory experience to Genentech's therapeutic areas
Genentech organizes its field Sales force around specific disease areas like oncology and neurology. Highlighting prior territory management in those specialties signals faster ramp time and strengthens the employer's case when documenting specialty occupation requirements for your petition.
Confirm LCA filing timing with your hiring contact
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before USCIS can process your H-1B petition. Ask your recruiter or HR contact where the role stands in that sequence so you can plan your start date realistically.
Prepare your credentials for a specialty occupation determination
USCIS evaluates whether a Sales role qualifies as a specialty occupation by examining the degree requirement for the position. Gather transcripts, any credential evaluations for foreign degrees, and documentation showing your field of study directly relates to pharmaceutical or medical device sales.

Does Genentech sponsor H-1B visas for Sales roles?
Yes, Genentech sponsors H-1B visas for Sales positions. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which typically means the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field. Genentech's Sales roles in therapeutic areas like oncology often meet this threshold given the scientific knowledge required.
How do I apply for Sales jobs at Genentech?
Applications go through Genentech's careers portal. Before applying, confirm the role lists visa sponsorship as available, since not every Sales posting will specify it upfront. Migrate Mate aggregates Genentech's Sales openings and filters by visa type, so you can identify sponsorship-eligible roles before starting your application.
Which visa types does Genentech commonly sponsor for Sales positions?
Genentech sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for Sales roles. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students in qualifying programs, TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible occupational categories, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term employees.
What qualifications does Genentech expect for sponsored Sales roles?
Most Genentech Sales roles require a bachelor's degree in a life sciences, pharmacy, or related field, plus demonstrated commercial experience in pharmaceuticals or medical devices. Therapeutic area knowledge, particularly in oncology or immunology, is frequently listed as preferred. A strong academic background matters both for the hiring decision and for satisfying USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How do I plan my timeline if I need H-1B sponsorship for a Genentech Sales role?
H-1B petitions can only be filed once per year, with USCIS accepting registrations in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, you may need to bridge on OPT, a cap-exempt petition if applicable, or another status. Discuss timing with your Genentech recruiter early so the petition sequence is clear before you accept.
