Target corporate and technical roles
Genesco's visa sponsorship tends to concentrate in corporate functions rather than store-level retail positions. Focus your search on roles in technology, finance, merchandising, and supply chain, where specialty occupation requirements are clearest and sponsorship is more likely.
Understand the visa types Genesco supports
Genesco sponsors H-1B, TN, and Green Card pathways, along with F-1 OPT and CPT. If you're on OPT, applying early gives you time to build a case for H-1B sponsorship before your work authorization window closes.
Align your background with Fashion & Apparel needs
Genesco operates across footwear and specialty retail brands. Candidates with experience in retail merchandising, e-commerce, inventory systems, or consumer analytics will find their skills map well to the roles most likely to attract sponsorship consideration.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship history before applying
Sponsorship policies can shift between hiring cycles. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize Genesco roles where visa support has actually been granted rather than guessing from job descriptions alone.
Apply ahead of the H-1B registration window
If you need H-1B sponsorship, time your Genesco application so an offer can be in place before the March registration window. Genesco will need lead time to engage immigration counsel and prepare the registration on your behalf.
Leverage TN status if you're Canadian or Mexican
Genesco's TN sponsorship makes it accessible to Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying occupations. TN doesn't require lottery selection and can often be processed faster, making it a practical path if your role and citizenship qualify.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Genesco sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Genesco sponsors H-1B visas. Sponsorship is selective and typically focused on corporate and technical roles that meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. If you're targeting Genesco for H-1B sponsorship, roles in technology, finance, or merchandising are your strongest entry points.
Which visa types does Genesco sponsor?
Genesco sponsors H-1B, TN visa, EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas. This range covers both temporary work authorization and permanent residence pathways, as well as options for students on OPT or CPT. TN visa sponsorship is available for Canadian and Mexican professionals in eligible roles, which can be a faster alternative to the H-1B process.
What departments at Genesco are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Based on Genesco's sponsorship history, corporate functions, including information technology, finance, merchandising, and supply chain operations, are the most likely departments to consider visa sponsorship. Retail store positions are generally not sponsored. If your background is in a specialty function tied to Genesco's footwear or apparel brands, that's where to concentrate your applications.
How do I find open roles at Genesco that may offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the most reliable way to find Genesco roles with verified sponsorship history. Rather than relying on job descriptions that rarely mention visa support, Migrate Mate lets you filter by employer sponsorship track record so you can focus your time on applications where sponsorship is a realistic outcome. From there, apply directly through Genesco's careers page.
How do I approach the application timeline if I need sponsorship from Genesco?
If you're pursuing H-1B sponsorship, plan to have an offer in place well before the March registration window, as Genesco will need time to work with immigration counsel and submit your registration. For TN or OPT transitions, timelines are more flexible, but starting conversations about sponsorship early in the hiring process, before an offer is extended, helps avoid last-minute complications.
