Inventory Manager / Purchasing Agent

Location: Houston, TX & Surrounding Clinic Locations

About the Position

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable Inventory Manager / Purchasing Agent to oversee inventory management and purchasing operations for a growing multispecialty medical group with multiple locations throughout Houston and the surrounding areas. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all clinics have the medical supplies, equipment, office supplies, and other necessary materials needed to operate efficiently. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, comfortable managing multiple locations, and able to identify purchasing needs before they become urgent.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage inventory levels across multiple medical practice locations.
• Monitor supply usage and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Create and maintain standardized inventory systems and procedures.
• Coordinate purchasing for medical, clinical, and office supplies.
• Obtain quotes and compare pricing from vendors.
• Place purchase orders and track orders through delivery.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs and eliminate unnecessary spending.
• Monitor backorders, shortages, and delayed shipments.
• Distribute supplies to individual clinic locations as needed.
• Coordinate transfers of supplies between locations when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records.
• Monitor expiration dates and ensure proper rotation of medical supplies.
• Work closely with clinical and administrative leadership to anticipate supply needs.
• Establish appropriate par levels for commonly used supplies.
• Help standardize products and vendors across locations when possible.
• Address supply issues quickly to prevent disruption of patient care.
• Assist with implementing inventory controls and accountability procedures.
• Prepare inventory and purchasing reports for management.

Qualifications Required:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, supply chain, or a related position.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage inventory across multiple locations.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn inventory/purchasing software.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Strong vendor negotiation and relationship-management skills.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between clinic locations as needed.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a medical environment.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working in a medical practice, multispecialty group, hospital, surgery center, or healthcare environment.
• Familiarity with medical supplies and clinical inventory.
• Experience with purchasing software, inventory management systems, or electronic ordering platforms.
• Experience managing inventory for multiple locations.
• Experience negotiating vendor pricing and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
