Align Your Degree to Supply Chain Functions
H-1B eligibility requires a specialty occupation tied to a specific degree field. For Procurement roles at GPC, degrees in supply chain management, industrial engineering, or business with a sourcing concentration strengthen your petition far more than a general business credential.
Target GPC's Automotive Sourcing Teams Directly
GPC staffs distinct procurement teams by product category, including automotive aftermarket parts. Applying to roles that reference supplier negotiation, parts sourcing, or OEM relationships signals fit with the teams that have historically driven sponsorship activity within this function.
Start OPT Early If You're on F-1 Status
OPT authorization takes up to 90 days to process through USCIS. If you're targeting a full-time Procurement role at GPC post-graduation, file your EAD application as early as 90 days before your program end date to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope Before Accepting an Offer
GPC sponsors across several visa categories, but not every Procurement requisition carries the same sponsorship scope. Before signing an offer, confirm in writing whether the role includes H-1B filing, premium processing, and a long-term Green Card pathway through PERM.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Procurement Openings by Sponsorship
GPC posts Procurement roles across multiple locations with varying sponsorship availability. Search Migrate Mate to filter active openings at GPC by visa type, so you're applying only to positions where your specific authorization is already supported.
Prepare Supplier Documentation as H-1B Evidence
USCIS scrutinizes whether Procurement roles qualify as specialty occupations. Gather job descriptions, org charts showing your position within the sourcing hierarchy, and any supplier contracts you managed. This documentation helps your employer's attorney build a defensible H-1B petition for a procurement-specific role.

Find Procurement at Genuine Parts Company JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Genuine Parts Company sponsor H-1B visas for Procurements?
Yes, Genuine Parts Company sponsors H-1B visas for Procurement roles. The company has an established pattern of filing H-1B petitions for supply chain and sourcing positions, particularly where the role requires a specialized degree in fields like supply chain management, engineering, or business. Sponsorship availability can vary by specific requisition and location, so confirming with the hiring team before the offer stage is advisable.
How do I apply for Procurement jobs at Genuine Parts Company?
Applications go through GPC's careers portal, where Procurement roles are listed under supply chain or operations categories. You can also browse open Procurement positions at Genuine Parts Company filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces only roles where international candidates are actively considered. Tailoring your resume to highlight supplier negotiation, parts sourcing, and category management experience improves your chances significantly.
Which visa types does Genuine Parts Company commonly use for Procurement roles?
GPC sponsors a range of visa categories for Procurement positions, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, and J-1 for certain exchange visitor programs. For longer-term employees, the company also supports immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 classifications through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Genuine Parts Company expect for Procurement roles?
GPC's Procurement openings typically require a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience with supplier sourcing, contract negotiation, and inventory management in an automotive or industrial distribution environment is highly valued. Familiarity with ERP systems and exposure to OEM or aftermarket parts supply chains can differentiate candidates in a competitive applicant pool.
How do I time my H-1B application if I receive a Procurement offer from GPC?
H-1B petitions for cap-subject workers can only be filed once per year, with USCIS opening registration in March for an October 1 start date. If GPC extends a Procurement offer outside that window, the company may bridge your status through OPT cap-gap protections if you're on F-1, or file under a cap-exempt pathway if the role qualifies. Confirming your status situation with GPC's immigration team immediately after receiving an offer keeps the timeline on track.
