Align your resume to automotive parts knowledge
Genuine Parts Company prioritizes candidates who can speak to product lines, inventory systems, and wholesale account management. Tailor your resume to reflect familiarity with automotive aftermarket parts, even if gained through coursework, internships, or non-U.S. employers.
Identify NAPA store territories actively hiring
Service and Sales Representative openings at Genuine Parts often cluster around regional distribution hubs and NAPA franchise territories. Searching by metropolitan area rather than a single city surfaces store-level roles that corporate job boards sometimes bury.
Confirm OPT authorization covers your start date
F-1 OPT authorization must be active before your first day. If your program end date is approaching, verify your EAD card arrival timeline with your DSO and confirm it covers the role's expected start date before accepting an offer.
Ask HR which filing pathway applies to your role
Genuine Parts sponsors multiple visa categories, and the pathway offered can depend on your degree field and prior experience. During the offer stage, ask the HR team directly whether your role qualifies for H-1B specialty occupation or a green card track through PERM.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring locations
Not every Genuine Parts Company location files sponsorship paperwork at the same rate. Use Migrate Mate to filter open Service and Sales Representative roles specifically by sponsorship history so you focus applications on locations that have sponsored this role before.
Prepare documentation showing in-field experience early
For PERM-backed Green Card filings, DOL requires detailed evidence of your qualifying experience. Gather reference letters, pay stubs, and employer contact details from previous automotive or wholesale sales roles before the offer stage, not after.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Genuine Parts Company sponsor H-1B visas for Service & Sales Representatives?
Yes, Genuine Parts Company has a track record of sponsoring H-1B visas for Service and Sales Representative roles. Sponsorship eligibility typically depends on whether the specific position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which generally requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related field. Confirming this with the hiring team early in the process is the most reliable way to understand what your specific offer covers.
How do I apply for Service & Sales Representative jobs at Genuine Parts Company?
Applications go through the Genuine Parts Company careers portal, where roles are listed by location and business unit including NAPA Auto Parts and the industrial division. You can also find and filter open positions confirmed for visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which is useful if your job search depends on landing a role with active sponsorship support rather than applying broadly and asking later.
Which visa types does Genuine Parts Company commonly use for Service & Sales Representative roles?
Genuine Parts Company sponsors across several categories for this function, including H-1B for specialty occupation workers, F-1 OPT and CPT for students still in or recently completing a degree program, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, J-1 visa for exchange visitors, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa tracks for candidates pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship.
What qualifications does Genuine Parts Company expect for a Service & Sales Representative role?
Most Service and Sales Representative roles at Genuine Parts Company look for a combination of customer-facing sales experience and familiarity with the automotive aftermarket or wholesale distribution space. A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field strengthens your profile for both the role and H-1B eligibility. Hands-on knowledge of parts cataloguing systems, fleet account management, or NAPA store operations can differentiate your application in a competitive candidate pool.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline once I receive an offer from Genuine Parts Company?
The timeline depends on your current status and the visa category your role qualifies for. H-1B petitions are subject to the annual cap with a lottery in March for an October 1 start, so if you receive an offer outside that window your employer may file for the next cycle or explore cap-exempt options. F-1 OPT holders can start immediately once their EAD is active. For PERM-based Green Card tracks, DOL processing can extend the overall timeline by 12 months or more, so clarify the intended pathway with Genuine Parts HR before accepting.
