Align Your Credentials With U.S. Licensing Requirements
GFT operates as a technology company, so facilities and electrical roles often require state-level journeyman or master electrician licensing. Research the specific license required in the state where the role is based before applying, as unlicensed candidates rarely advance past initial screening.
Target GFT's Facilities and Infrastructure Teams
Electrician openings at technology firms like GFT tend to sit under facilities management or data center operations, not traditional construction pipelines. Search for these roles using department filters and keywords like 'critical infrastructure' or 'building systems' to find the right hiring team.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Active GFT Openings
GFT's Electrician postings don't always appear consistently on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified visa-sponsoring employers in the technology sector and monitor GFT listings as they go live, so you're applying early in the hiring cycle.
Prepare for H-1B Specialty Occupation Documentation
H-1B approval for Electrician roles hinges on demonstrating specialty occupation status to USCIS. Gather documentation showing your degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field, and be ready to connect your academic background directly to the specific technical duties in the job description.
Confirm Sponsorship Intent Early in the Interview Process
Ask directly during the first recruiter call whether the team has budget and legal approval to file an H-1B for this specific role. Technology companies sometimes post roles without confirming sponsorship at the individual department level, and clarifying early saves weeks of misdirected effort.
Plan Around the H-1B Cap and Annual Filing Window
H-1B cap-subject petitions have a narrow registration window each March, with an October 1 start date if selected. If you receive an offer after April, work with GFT's immigration counsel to determine whether a cap-exempt pathway or a delayed start date is feasible before accepting.

Find Electrician at GFT JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Electricians?
Yes, GFT has sponsored H-1B visas for Electrician roles. Because sponsorship decisions are made at the role and department level, confirm with your recruiter early that the specific position you're applying for has sponsorship authorization. Not every open Electrician posting will carry the same sponsorship commitment.
How do I apply for Electrician jobs at GFT?
Start by browsing current Electrician openings through Migrate Mate, which surfaces visa-sponsoring roles at technology companies including GFT. Apply directly through GFT's careers portal, tailoring your resume to highlight electrical systems experience relevant to technology infrastructure environments such as data centers, server rooms, or commercial facilities management.
Which visa types are commonly used for Electrician roles at GFT?
H-1B is the primary visa type GFT has used for Electrician positions. To qualify, the role must meet USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer may also pursue a transfer to GFT.
What qualifications does GFT typically expect for Electrician roles?
GFT's Electrician roles within a technology company context generally require formal electrical engineering education, hands-on experience with commercial or industrial electrical systems, and relevant state licensure. Experience with data center power distribution, UPS systems, or building automation is often advantageous. A background that bridges technical fieldwork with systems-level understanding tends to stand out.
How do I plan the H-1B timeline if I receive an offer from GFT?
If your offer arrives before the March H-1B registration window, GFT's immigration counsel will register you for the lottery. Selection results come in late March, with petitions filed by June and an October 1 employment start date. If you're already in H-1B status elsewhere, a transfer petition can be filed any time and work authorization begins when USCIS receives the petition.
