Align your portfolio with fintech systems experience
GFT's engineering work is heavily oriented toward banking, capital markets, and insurance platforms. Framing your resume and GitHub around distributed systems, API integration, or core banking modernization signals immediate relevance to their hiring teams.
Verify your H-1B status before applying
GFT sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles, so confirm your current visa situation before outreach. If you're on OPT, know your cap-gap eligibility window. USCIS allows continued work authorization during a pending H-1B petition filed before OPT expires.
Target GFT's delivery-focused engineering teams
GFT structures engineering work around client delivery squads rather than internal product teams. Applications referencing agile delivery, client-facing technical ownership, or cross-functional squad experience are better matched to the roles they're actually filling.
Time your offer negotiation around H-1B filing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. If you're receiving an offer in late winter, confirm with GFT's HR whether they'll file in the upcoming cap season or ask you to wait, since missing the window means a full year's delay.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Senior Software Engineering roles at GFT
GFT posts Senior Software Engineering openings across multiple locations at any given time. Migrate Mate filters these specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you're not manually sifting through listings that won't support your immigration status.
Prepare your credentials for specialty occupation documentation
USCIS requires H-1B petitions to demonstrate the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. For Senior Software Engineering roles at GFT, gather transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if your credential is from outside the U.S., and any professional certifications that reinforce the theoretical and practical requirements of the position.

Find Senior Software Engineering at GFT JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineerings?
Yes, GFT sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles. GFT operates in the financial technology sector, where specialized engineering skills frequently meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires for H-1B approval. Your role must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related technical field, and GFT's HR team handles the petition filing on your behalf after an offer is extended.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at GFT?
Applications go through GFT's careers portal, where Senior Software Engineering openings are listed by region and practice area. You can also find and filter GFT's visa-sponsoring roles through Migrate Mate, which surfaces positions specifically open to candidates requiring H-1B sponsorship. Tailoring your application to GFT's financial services delivery model, rather than submitting a generic software resume, meaningfully improves your chances of progressing to an interview.
What visa types does GFT use for Senior Software Engineering roles?
GFT primarily uses the H-1B visa for Senior Software Engineering hires who require immigration sponsorship. The H-1B is the standard route for employer-sponsored skilled workers in specialty occupations. Candidates already holding L-1 status from a GFT entity abroad, or those with O-1 visas based on extraordinary ability, may also be considered depending on their profile and the specific role requirements.
What qualifications does GFT expect for Senior Software Engineering roles?
GFT's Senior Software Engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, plus several years of hands-on engineering experience. Given GFT's focus on financial services clients, fluency with cloud platforms, Java or Python-based backend systems, and experience working within regulated technology environments strengthens your application considerably. USCIS also scrutinizes degree-to-role alignment during H-1B adjudication, so a direct match matters.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take if I receive an offer from GFT?
The timeline depends on where you are in the H-1B cap cycle. Cap-subject petitions are filed in April for an October 1 start date, so an offer received in January could mean a nine-month wait before your status changes. USCIS premium processing, which GFT may elect to use, reduces adjudication to around 15 business days but doesn't change the October start date for cap-subject cases. If you're cap-exempt (for example, already holding an approved H-1B), transfers can move significantly faster.
