Align your credentials to GFT's technical scope
GFT operates at the intersection of technology and infrastructure, so frame your civil engineering credentials around project delivery in tech-adjacent environments. Highlight experience with data center construction, fiber infrastructure, or facilities projects rather than traditional public works.
Confirm your degree satisfies specialty occupation requirements
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the Civil Project Engineer role. A degree in civil, structural, or construction engineering clears this bar cleanly. Mechanical or general engineering degrees may require additional documentation to establish that nexus.
Target GFT roles with active project pipelines
GFT posts Civil Project Engineer openings tied to specific program phases. Prioritize applications when a role lists active deliverables or named projects, since these positions are more likely to convert to H-1B sponsorship than exploratory or backfill postings.
Browse open Civil Project Engineer positions on Migrate Mate
GFT's sponsorship history for this role is already tracked and surfaced on Migrate Mate, so you can filter and apply to live openings without manually researching each posting's visa eligibility.
Clarify sponsorship intent before the offer stage
During later-round interviews, confirm directly whether GFT will file a cap-subject H-1B petition or a cap-exempt one. If you're currently on OPT, verify the timeline against your OPT expiration and the April 1 filing window to avoid a gap in work authorization.
Prepare your Labor Condition Application documentation early
Your employer files the LCA with DOL before the H-1B petition, and GFT's HR team will need your work location and job duties confirmed. Have your official job description, work site address, and offer letter details finalized before the LCA is submitted to avoid delays.

Find Civil Project Engineer at GFT JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers?
Yes, GFT has sponsored H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineer roles. The H-1B is the primary work visa pathway for this position, since civil engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. GFT's technology and infrastructure focus means sponsorship decisions are typically tied to active project need rather than blanket hiring volume.
How do I apply for Civil Project Engineer jobs at GFT?
You can browse and apply for Civil Project Engineer positions at GFT directly through Migrate Mate, which surfaces open roles with confirmed sponsorship history. Once you identify a relevant posting, apply through GFT's careers portal and indicate your visa sponsorship requirements early in the process to avoid late-stage mismatches.
Which visa types are commonly used for Civil Project Engineer roles at GFT?
The H-1B is the primary visa category used for Civil Project Engineers at GFT. Civil engineering consistently meets the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to H-1B petitions. If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, your employer will need to file the H-1B petition before April 1 for an October 1 start date.
What qualifications does GFT expect for Civil Project Engineer roles?
GFT typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in civil, structural, or construction engineering, along with demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, and cross-functional coordination. Given GFT's technology sector footprint, familiarity with infrastructure projects in data center, commercial, or telecommunications environments strengthens your application considerably.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing H-1B sponsorship through GFT?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March, with USCIS selecting registrations before April 1 petitions are filed. If selected, employment on H-1B status begins October 1. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date against this timeline. Cap-gap protections can extend F-1 status if your OPT expires between April and September 30.
