Align your portfolio to GFT's fintech stack
GFT engineers typically work on banking and financial services technology. Projects demonstrating experience with core banking systems, cloud migration, or payments infrastructure will resonate more than general software work during the screening process.
Confirm your role qualifies as a specialty occupation
USCIS requires H-1B roles to meet the specialty occupation standard. For engineering positions at a technology consultancy like GFT, your offer letter should tie the job duties to a specific degree field, not just a general engineering background.
Target GFT's consulting delivery roles strategically
GFT staffs many engineering roles as client-facing delivery positions. When applying, emphasize experience working across multiple client environments, since that matches how GFT structures engineering teams and strengthens the case for a qualifying visa petition.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open engineering roles
GFT posts engineering openings across multiple locations and specializations. Use Migrate Mate to filter for roles that align with your visa type and experience level, so you're applying where sponsorship is actively on the table.
Clarify H-1B cap timing with your recruiter early
The H-1B cap runs on a federal fiscal year, with USCIS accepting petitions in April for an October 1 start date. If you're interviewing outside that window, ask GFT's HR team directly whether a cap-exempt filing or cap-gap extension applies to your situation.
Prepare credential documentation before receiving an offer
GFT's H-1B petition will require your academic transcripts, degree certificates, and any foreign credential evaluations. Having a NACES-member evaluation of non-U.S. degrees completed in advance prevents delays once the employer is ready to file.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, GFT sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. The company operates in the technology and software sector, where H-1B sponsorship is a standard part of hiring internationally qualified candidates. Sponsorship is typically tied to full-time engineering positions, so contract or consulting arrangements through a third party are unlikely to qualify.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at GFT?
You can browse GFT's engineering openings directly through their careers page or use Migrate Mate to find and filter roles by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, tailor your resume to GFT's financial technology focus, and clearly indicate your work authorization status so recruiters can confirm sponsorship viability early in the process.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering roles at GFT?
The H-1B is the primary visa category GFT uses for engineering hires who need sponsorship. Candidates already holding OPT or STEM OPT work authorization can begin employment while a petition is filed. Engineers with L-1 visa intracompany transfer eligibility from a GFT entity abroad may also have a viable alternative pathway worth exploring with HR.
What qualifications and experience does GFT expect for Engineering roles?
GFT engineering roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related technical field. For H-1B purposes, the degree must align with the specific job duties. Practical experience in financial technology, enterprise software delivery, or cloud platforms strengthens both your application and the specialty occupation case in the petition.
How do I think about the H-1B timeline when targeting GFT?
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, with approved petitions taking effect on October 1. If you receive an offer from GFT outside this window, your start date will likely align with the next cap cycle. Build at least six months of lead time into your job search to avoid gaps, and confirm with GFT whether premium processing is available to accelerate USCIS adjudication once a petition is filed.
