Frame your credentials around GFT's delivery model
GFT runs client-facing technology projects in banking, insurance, and manufacturing. Tailor your resume to show hands-on experience managing technical workstreams or system integrations, not just theoretical project management. Certifications like PMP or Agile credentials strengthen your candidacy.
Target GFT's sector-aligned business units
GFT organizes hiring around industry verticals. Project Engineer roles tied to financial services or digital transformation initiatives are more likely to carry sponsorship approval than generalist openings. Filter your applications toward postings that name a specific client sector or technology stack.
Secure your job offer before the H-1B registration window
H-1B registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. GFT must register you before that window closes. If you receive an offer late in the cycle, confirm with your recruiter whether the employer can file in the next cap year or pursue a cap-exempt pathway instead.
Clarify the LCA wage level during offer negotiation
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing rate for your role and location. Ask HR which wage level they're filing at. Level I or II filings for senior Project Engineer responsibilities can create RFE risk at USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to identify GFT Project Engineer openings actively seeking sponsorship
Not every Project Engineer posting at GFT will explicitly state visa sponsorship availability. Search Migrate Mate to surface current openings where sponsorship has been confirmed, and focus your outreach on those roles rather than applying broadly.
Prepare your employment authorization bridge if you're mid-status
If you're transitioning from OPT or STEM OPT, confirm your current authorization end date against GFT's expected start date. A gap of even a few days can disrupt onboarding. Your 60-day grace period cannot be used for employment, so timing your offer acceptance precisely matters.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Project Engineers?
Yes, GFT sponsors H-1B visas for Project Engineer roles. Sponsorship is tied to specific openings rather than offered universally, so confirming sponsorship eligibility directly with the recruiter during your first conversation is the most reliable approach. GFT's Project Engineer positions typically align well with H-1B specialty occupation requirements given the technical and engineering nature of the work.
How do I apply for Project Engineer jobs at GFT?
Applications go through GFT's careers portal, where Project Engineer roles are listed by region and business unit. You can also find sponsorship-confirmed openings on Migrate Mate. When applying, match your resume to the specific technology stack or industry vertical listed in the posting. GFT's hiring process typically includes a technical screening, a competency interview, and a final round with the delivery or account team.
What visa types are available for Project Engineer roles at GFT?
H-1B is the primary nonimmigrant visa GFT uses to sponsor Project Engineers. Candidates already holding L-1 visa status through an intracompany transfer from a GFT entity abroad may also be eligible depending on their role history. If you hold a valid OPT or STEM OPT authorization, you can begin employment before H-1B approval as long as your EAD remains valid through your start date.
What qualifications does GFT expect for sponsored Project Engineer roles?
GFT typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a closely related field. Practical experience managing software delivery lifecycles, cross-functional teams, or client-facing technology implementations carries significant weight. Familiarity with agile frameworks, cloud platforms, or financial services technology is often listed as a differentiator in their Project Engineer postings.
How do I time my H-1B application if I receive a GFT offer?
H-1B cap-subject petitions have a fixed annual timeline. USCIS opens electronic registration each March, and selected candidates can begin employment no earlier than October 1. If you receive a GFT offer outside this window, ask whether premium processing is available once your petition is filed, which reduces USCIS adjudication to a 15-business-day window and gives both you and your employer a faster decision.
