Frame your credentials around GFT's delivery model
GFT operates in technology and software, so position your structural engineering experience around digital project delivery, systems integration, or infrastructure supporting tech environments. Employers in this sector weigh cross-functional technical fluency alongside traditional structural competencies.
Verify your degree aligns with specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a direct nexus between your degree field and the Structural Project Engineer role. A civil or structural engineering degree is a clean fit, but a broader engineering background may need supporting documentation showing field-specific coursework or licensure.
Target GFT's active Structural Project Engineer openings directly
GFT posts a substantial volume of Structural Project Engineer roles at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter for open positions at GFT that are flagged for visa sponsorship so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already on the table.
Initiate the H-1B conversation before accepting an offer
Ask during late-stage interviews whether GFT's legal or HR team handles H-1B filings internally or through outside counsel. Knowing the filing structure early helps you anticipate the I-129 preparation timeline and avoid surprises after signing.
Prepare a project portfolio tailored to technology sector infrastructure
GFT's work often involves complex technical environments. Document structural projects that intersect with data center builds, modular construction, or technology facility upgrades. Concrete project examples from adjacent sectors strengthen your case in interviews and in the H-1B petition's specialty occupation documentation.
Understand the H-1B cap timeline relative to your current status
If you're not cap-exempt, USCIS's H-1B lottery runs once annually with an October 1 start date. Map your current visa expiration or OPT end date against that window so GFT's HR team can plan your petition filing without a gap in work authorization.

Find Structural Project Engineer at GFT JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineers?
Yes, GFT has sponsored H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineer roles. The H-1B is the primary visa pathway for this function, since structural engineering meets USCIS's specialty occupation definition. You'll want to confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process, as sponsorship decisions are made at the individual hiring manager and HR level.
How do I apply for Structural Project Engineer jobs at GFT?
You can find open Structural Project Engineer positions at GFT through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is available. Apply with a resume that emphasizes project delivery experience relevant to technology or software infrastructure environments. Tailoring your application to GFT's sector focus gives you a stronger entry point than a generic structural engineering resume.
Which visa types are commonly used for Structural Project Engineer roles at GFT?
The H-1B is the most common visa for Structural Project Engineer roles at GFT. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer petition is possible. Candidates with an approved I-140 immigrant petition may also pursue these roles while waiting on Green Card priority dates, depending on their preference category and country of chargeability.
What qualifications does GFT expect for Structural Project Engineer candidates?
GFT typically looks for a bachelor's degree or higher in civil or structural engineering, along with demonstrable project management experience in technically complex environments. Professional Engineer licensure is a strong differentiator. Because GFT operates in the technology and software sector, experience with infrastructure projects tied to digital or data-intensive facilities is especially relevant.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take when joining GFT?
If you're subject to the H-1B cap, USCIS processes petitions with an October 1 start date, and the lottery registration window opens in March. Premium processing gets USCIS to a decision within 15 business days of receipt, which most employers use to reduce uncertainty. For cap-exempt situations, like transferring from another H-1B employer, GFT can file any time and you can begin work once the petition is received by USCIS.
