Align your credentials with NCEES standards early
H W Lochner project engineers typically hold a PE license or are actively pursuing one. Get your foreign engineering degree evaluated through NCEES's foreign credential review before applying so your qualification is already validated when the offer conversation starts.
Target Lochner's transportation and bridge project teams
Lochner's structural hiring concentrates heavily in transportation infrastructure. Tailor your resume and portfolio around bridge design, load rating, or DOT project delivery experience to match the specific structural work their project engineers are assigned to.
Clarify H-1B cap timing before accepting any offer
If you're not already in H-1B status, the USCIS annual cap and April lottery window directly affect your start date. Confirm with the hiring manager whether your offer timeline aligns with the next registration period or requires a cap-exempt filing strategy.
Understand how PERM shapes your long-term path
Consulting firms like Lochner often sponsor EB-2 or EB-3 Green Cards through PERM labor certification. Ask during negotiations whether sponsorship extends to permanent residence, since DOL's PERM process can take one to two years and requires employer commitment well before filing.
Use Migrate Mate to find open Structural Project Engineer roles
Search Migrate Mate to filter H W Lochner's current Structural Project Engineer openings by visa sponsorship type. It lets you identify which postings are active and relevant to your work authorization situation before reaching out or applying directly.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your interview
Federal contracting work requires employers to use E-Verify, and Lochner operates on federally funded infrastructure projects. Verify their E-Verify enrollment status through the official DHS E-Verify employer search, since this confirms they can legally onboard sponsored engineers without delays.

Does H W Lochner sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineers?
Yes, H W Lochner sponsors H-1B visas for Structural Project Engineers. The firm operates in consulting and infrastructure sectors where specialty occupation classification for licensed or degree-holding structural engineers is well established. If you're outside the U.S. or changing status, confirm with their HR team whether your timeline aligns with the USCIS H-1B cap registration window, which opens each March.
How do I apply for Structural Project Engineer jobs at H W Lochner?
You can apply directly through H W Lochner's careers page or find their open Structural Project Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate. Before applying, tailor your application to highlight transportation infrastructure experience, PE licensure status, and any DOT project delivery background, since those align closely with Lochner's active project portfolio.
Which visa types does H W Lochner commonly use for Structural Project Engineers?
H W Lochner sponsors both H-1B nonimmigrant visas and employment-based immigrant visas, primarily EB-2 and EB-3, for Structural Project Engineers. H-1B is the typical starting point for initial work authorization. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification is the longer-term pathway, usually initiated after the employee has been with the firm for a period of time.
What qualifications does H W Lochner expect for a Structural Project Engineer?
A bachelor's or master's degree in civil or structural engineering is the baseline. Lochner's structural project engineers typically have experience in bridge design, load rating analysis, or transportation infrastructure delivery. Active pursuit of a PE license, or an existing PE, strengthens your candidacy significantly. Familiarity with AASHTO standards and DOT project workflows is directly relevant to the work you'd be doing.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at a consulting firm like H W Lochner?
From offer acceptance to approved H-1B status, the process typically takes three to six months under standard processing, or two to four weeks with USCIS premium processing. Consulting firms usually initiate the I-129 petition well ahead of your intended start date. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, your start date can't be earlier than October 1 of the fiscal year for which you were selected in the lottery.
