Align Your Credentials with AASHTO Standards
H W Lochner's civil work centers on transportation infrastructure, so framing your resume around AASHTO design standards, highway geometry, or DOT project delivery signals direct relevance and reduces credentialing questions during screening.
Pursue Your EIT Before Applying
Most Civil Project Engineer roles at H W Lochner expect an Engineer-in-Training certificate or active PE licensure path. Having your EIT credential before you apply removes a common objection hiring managers raise when evaluating candidates who need sponsorship.
Target State DOT Project Openings Specifically
H W Lochner consistently staffs state DOT contracts across roadway design and construction management. Filtering open roles by project type rather than title alone helps you find positions where sponsorship conversations are most familiar to the hiring team.
Use Migrate Mate to Identify Active Openings
Searching broadly across job boards misses roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring plan. Use Migrate Mate to filter H W Lochner Civil Project Engineer openings specifically verified for visa sponsorship so you spend time on realistic opportunities.
Raise Sponsorship Timing Early in Recruiter Calls
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so bringing up your visa status in the first recruiter conversation lets both sides assess whether the timeline works before investing in multiple interview rounds.
Understand How PERM Fits the Green Card Timeline
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, your employer files a PERM labor certification with the DOL before petitioning USCIS. Consulting firms like H W Lochner typically initiate PERM after a defined tenure, so clarifying that milestone during offer negotiations sets accurate expectations.

Find Civil Project Engineer at H W Lochner JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does H W Lochner sponsor H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers?
Yes, H W Lochner has sponsored H-1B visas for Civil Project Engineers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation given the degree requirements in civil or structural engineering. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, your employer must file the petition in April for an October start, so confirming sponsorship willingness early in the process is essential.
Which visa types are commonly used for Civil Project Engineer roles at H W Lochner?
The H-1B is the most common nonimmigrant visa for this role. For longer-term pathways, H W Lochner has also pursued employment-based Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories, which require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL before USCIS can adjudicate the immigrant petition. Your eligibility for each category depends on your degree level, experience, and the specific role requirements.
How do I apply for Civil Project Engineer jobs at H W Lochner?
You can browse and apply for Civil Project Engineer openings at H W Lochner directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can focus on positions where sponsorship is already confirmed. When applying, tailor your materials to reflect transportation or highway infrastructure experience, and be prepared to discuss your visa status clearly with the recruiter in your first conversation.
What qualifications does H W Lochner expect for Civil Project Engineer candidates?
H W Lochner typically looks for a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program, with coursework or project experience in transportation, roadway design, or construction management. An Engineer-in-Training certification strengthens your application considerably. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or relevant state DOT design standards is commonly expected at the project engineer level.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take for a role at H W Lochner?
From offer acceptance to work authorization, the standard H-1B timeline spans roughly six months if you enter the annual lottery in March and receive an October 1 start date. USCIS premium processing can reduce the petition adjudication window to roughly 15 business days, but the overall timeline is still governed by the cap year cycle. Planning your job search and offer timeline around the April filing deadline is critical.
