Align your credentials to USCIS specialty occupation standards
Engineering roles at H W Lochner require a degree directly tied to the position, not just a general STEM background. Confirm your transcript shows a field-specific major, since USCIS scrutinizes specialty occupation determinations for consulting and infrastructure firms.
Target project types that match H W Lochner's portfolio
H W Lochner focuses heavily on transportation and infrastructure projects. Candidates with experience in bridge design, highway engineering, or transit planning fit their active project pipeline and are more likely to trigger a sponsorship conversation during interviews.
Search open Engineering roles using Migrate Mate
Filter Engineering positions at H W Lochner by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate so you're only applying to roles where sponsorship is genuinely on the table, not guessing from a generic job posting.
Ask about LCA filing timelines before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting an H-1B petition. Confirm the hiring team understands this sequence so your start date accounts for LCA certification, which typically takes seven business days.
Get your PE license or EIT certification documented early
Professional Engineering credentials carry real weight in consulting firms like H W Lochner. Having a current EIT registration or PE licensure on file strengthens the specialty occupation case USCIS evaluates and signals long-term commitment to the hiring team.
Prepare for PERM if you're targeting permanent residence
H W Lochner has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineering staff. Once you're established in the role, ask HR about the PERM labor certification timeline since DOL processing can run six months or longer before the I-140 petition is even filed.

Does H W Lochner sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, H W Lochner sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The firm operates in consulting and infrastructure sectors where specialized technical skills are a core requirement, which supports the specialty occupation classification USCIS requires. If you're in the H-1B lottery or need a transfer from an existing H-1B, it's worth raising sponsorship directly during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Engineering roles at H W Lochner?
H W Lochner primarily sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering hires and has also supported employees through EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card pathways. Engineers in civil, structural, and transportation disciplines tend to qualify for these categories given the degree-specific nature of the work and the prevailing wage requirements DOL enforces through the Labor Condition Application process.
What qualifications and experience does H W Lochner expect for Engineering roles?
Most Engineering positions at H W Lochner require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline such as civil, structural, or transportation engineering. Project experience in infrastructure or consulting environments is heavily weighted. Candidates holding an Engineer-in-Training certification or a Professional Engineer license are at an advantage, particularly for mid-level and senior roles where USCIS specialty occupation documentation matters.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at H W Lochner?
You can browse and apply for Engineering roles at H W Lochner through Migrate Mate, which filters positions by visa sponsorship availability so you're not wasting time on roles that won't work for your situation. Applications typically go through H W Lochner's recruiting team, and it's advisable to confirm sponsorship intent early in the process rather than after an offer is extended.
How do I understand the timeline for H-1B sponsorship at a firm like H W Lochner?
The H-1B process involves several sequential steps: DOL Labor Condition Application certification, USCIS petition filing, and if you're cap-subject, registration in the annual lottery held each March. Cap-exempt transfers move faster. From offer to approved status, plan for a minimum of a few months under regular processing, or a few weeks with USCIS premium processing, which H W Lochner may elect depending on your start date.
