Build a portfolio around product language systems
Google's UX writing teams evaluate candidates on content design at scale, not just microcopy. Include case studies showing how you've developed voice guidelines, pattern libraries, or error message frameworks across a product surface.
Target teams with active LCA filings
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data filtering for 'UX Writer' job titles under Google's registered employer entities. Active Labor Condition Applications signal which product areas are actively hiring and which visa types those roles are filed under.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the UX Writer role. Degrees in communications, linguistics, human-computer interaction, or cognitive science map cleanly. A general arts degree may require supplemental documentation showing specialized coursework.
Time your offer acceptance around H-1B cap deadlines
If you're not already in H-1B status, cap-subject petitions must be filed by the March registration window for an October 1 start. Receiving an offer in Q4 without existing work authorization means waiting up to a year before you can start.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Senior UX Writer roles at Google by visa type
Search Migrate Mate to identify which active Senior UX Writer postings at Google are tied to H-1B, H-1B1, or E-3 sponsorship, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than assuming it based on company reputation alone.

Find Senior UX Writer at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Senior UX Writers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Senior UX Writer roles. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, typically supported by a degree in communications, linguistics, human-computer interaction, or a related field. If you're subject to the H-1B cap, Google's immigration team will file a registration during the annual March lottery window.
Which visa types does Google commonly sponsor for Senior UX Writer roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Senior UX Writer positions. H-1B is the most common path for non-Australian, non-Singaporean nationals. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3, which has no lottery and faster processing. Singaporean citizens may qualify for the H-1B1. The right category depends on your nationality and current immigration status.
What qualifications and experience does Google expect for Senior UX Writer roles?
Google's Senior UX Writer roles typically require several years of product UX writing experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating work across complex, multi-platform products. Familiarity with content design systems, cross-functional collaboration with product managers and designers, and experience writing for consumer-facing products at scale are consistently prioritized. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field supports the visa sponsorship process.
How do I apply for Senior UX Writer jobs at Google?
You can find and apply for Senior UX Writer roles at Google through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship type so you know which postings include H-1B, H-1B1, or E-3 support before applying. Once you've identified a target role, apply directly through Google's careers portal and flag your visa status early in the recruiter screen so the team can involve immigration counsel before an offer is extended.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take after receiving an offer from Google?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 consular processing typically takes two to four weeks once your employer has a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL. H-1B cap-subject cases follow a fixed cycle: lottery registration in March, petition filing by June, and a start date no earlier than October 1. If you're already in H-1B status, a transfer petition can be filed any time and you can start once the receipt notice is issued.
