Target technical and engineering roles
Airgas's Green Card sponsorship concentrates in roles requiring specialized expertise, such as chemical engineers, process engineers, and materials scientists. Applying for positions with clear degree requirements improves your chances of being considered for sponsorship.
Understand the EB-2 vs. EB-3 distinction
Airgas files under both EB-2 and EB-3 categories. EB-2 suits advanced-degree professionals; EB-3 covers skilled workers. Knowing which category fits your background helps you frame your qualifications correctly when speaking with recruiters.
Raise sponsorship early in the process
Airgas recruiters need time to assess sponsorship feasibility before extending an offer. Mentioning your Green Card needs in the first interview signals transparency and avoids wasted time late in the hiring process.
Highlight industry-specific credentials
Certifications and experience relevant to chemicals and materials, such as process safety, hazardous materials handling, or industrial gas systems, strengthen your case. Airgas is more likely to sponsor candidates whose skills are genuinely hard to source domestically.
Search verified sponsors before applying
Not every Airgas posting will lead to Green Card sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus your effort on roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Be prepared for a multi-year timeline
Green Card processing through PERM labor certification and I-140 approval takes years, not months. Demonstrating long-term commitment to your field and to Airgas's mission reassures hiring managers that the investment in sponsorship is worthwhile.
Airgas Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Airgas sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Airgas sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees. Sponsorship is selective and typically reserved for technical and engineering professionals in roles where specialized expertise is required. Candidates already working at Airgas on an H-1B visa are generally the strongest candidates for Green Card support through EB-2 or EB-3 pathways.
Which roles and departments at Airgas are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Airgas tends to concentrate in technical functions, including chemical engineering, process engineering, safety and compliance, and research-oriented roles within the chemicals and materials sector. Corporate and administrative positions are less commonly sponsored. Roles requiring a specific degree and specialized knowledge align most closely with the PERM labor certification requirements Airgas uses.
How does the Green Card application process work at Airgas?
Airgas typically sponsors Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition filed with USCIS. Your employer initiates and manages both steps. The process begins with a prevailing wage determination and a recruitment test proving no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. Airgas's legal team coordinates the filings on your behalf.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Airgas?
From PERM filing to receiving a Green Card, the process typically takes several years, depending on your country of birth and the visa category. EB-2 and EB-3 applicants born in countries with high demand, such as India or China, may face extended priority date backlogs. Airgas initiates sponsorship, but the final timeline is largely determined by USCIS and the Department of State.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Airgas?
Start by searching Airgas's careers page for technical and engineering roles, then verify each posting's sponsorship status directly with the recruiter. Migrate Mate can help by surfacing Airgas listings alongside confirmed sponsorship history, so you spend less time chasing postings that won't lead to Green Card support. Focus on roles where your credentials align with specialty occupation criteria.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Airgas?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
