Match your credentials to EB-2 or EB-3
Amcor sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, and the pathway determines whether PERM labor certification is required and how long the process takes. Engineers and scientists with advanced degrees often qualify for EB-2, while EB-3 covers skilled roles requiring a bachelor's degree.
Research prevailing wage for your role
Before your first conversation with Amcor's HR team, run your target job title through the OFLC Wage Search. Chemicals and materials roles often fall into higher wage levels, and knowing your level tells you how competitive your offer needs to be for PERM compliance.
Highlight specialty materials experience in applications
Amcor's Green Card filings concentrate in packaging engineering, polymer science, and process chemistry. When applying, frame your technical background around these disciplines explicitly. Generic engineering resumes get filtered early; resumes that reference barrier materials, flexible packaging, or sustainable substrates move further.
Understand the PERM timeline before accepting an offer
PERM labor certification through DOL typically takes six to twelve months before USCIS even receives the I-140 petition. Ask Amcor's immigration team at the offer stage what their typical PERM start-to-approval timeline has been, so you can plan your status and travel around it.
Use Migrate Mate to identify Amcor's filing patterns
Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by employer, letting you see which job titles and locations Amcor has historically sponsored. Search Amcor before your interview so you can ask informed questions about Green Card eligibility for your specific role and location.
Time your internal transfer request carefully
If you're already at Amcor on a work visa, transferring to a team with a documented history of Green Card sponsorship strengthens your case. Roles in R&D, product engineering, and process development at manufacturing sites have supported sponsorship more consistently than purely commercial functions.
Amcor Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Amcor sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Amcor sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying professional and technical roles, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories. Sponsorship is most common in engineering, materials science, and process chemistry functions. Availability depends on the specific role, location, and business need at the time of hiring.
Which roles and departments typically receive Green Card sponsorship at Amcor?
Green Card sponsorship at Amcor is concentrated in technical and engineering disciplines tied to its core business in flexible packaging and materials. Roles in packaging engineering, polymer science, process engineering, and R&D are the most consistent candidates. Corporate and commercial functions receive sponsorship less frequently than plant-level or product development roles.
How do I navigate the Green Card application process at Amcor?
Amcor manages Green Card filings through its in-house immigration function, typically working with outside immigration counsel. Once your role is approved for sponsorship, the process begins with PERM labor certification filed with DOL, followed by an I-140 petition to USCIS. You'll need to coordinate closely with HR throughout both stages.
How long does the Green Card process take at Amcor?
The timeline varies depending on your visa category and country of birth. For most applicants, PERM labor certification alone takes six to twelve months. After USCIS approves the I-140, wait times for a visa number depend on your priority date. Applicants born in high-demand countries can face significantly longer backlogs.
How do I find open Green Card sponsorship roles at Amcor?
Start by filtering for Amcor roles in engineering and materials science, then confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter during the screening call. Migrate Mate lets you search Amcor's DOL filing history by job title and location, giving you a clearer picture of which roles have historically supported Green Card sponsorship before you apply.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Amcor?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
