Job Roles at ASARCO
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in ASARCO Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target technical and engineering roles
ASARCO's Green Card sponsorship is concentrated in specialized roles, think mining engineers, metallurgists, geologists, and environmental compliance specialists. Focus your application on positions that require field-specific degrees and hard-to-fill expertise within the minerals and extraction industry.
Understand the PERM process before you apply
Most employer-sponsored Green Cards at mining companies like ASARCO go through PERM labor certification first. This means your role must be documented as one where no qualified U.S. worker is available, so demonstrating rare or specialized skills strengthens your case from the start.
Ask about sponsorship intent during the interview
Mining companies often sponsor Green Cards for long-term operational roles rather than short-term contracts. When interviewing at ASARCO, ask directly whether the role has a sponsorship pathway, this signals seriousness and helps you gauge whether the position is built for retention.
Highlight relevant certifications and site experience
ASARCO operates complex extraction and smelting facilities. Candidates with certifications in mine safety, environmental permitting, or hazardous materials handling are easier to sponsor because those qualifications directly map to documented job requirements in a PERM application.
Search verified sponsors before applying broadly
Not every mining company that says it sponsors actually files Green Cards consistently. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, saving time and helping you focus on ASARCO and similar companies with documented Green Card filing patterns.
Apply early in your visa status window
Green Card timelines in EB-2 and EB-3 categories can stretch for years depending on your country of birth. If you're currently on an H-1B or E-3 at ASARCO, starting the Green Card process as early as possible in your authorized stay is critical to avoiding gaps.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does ASARCO sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, ASARCO sponsors Green Card visas for qualified professionals. The company has filed Green Card applications through employment-based categories, particularly for technical and engineering roles tied to its mining and natural resources operations. Sponsorship is most common for positions requiring specialized skills that are difficult to fill domestically.
Which roles and departments at ASARCO typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at ASARCO is most closely tied to roles in mining engineering, geology, metallurgy, environmental compliance, and process operations. These positions require specialized degrees and industry-specific expertise, which makes them strong candidates for PERM labor certification. Corporate and administrative roles are sponsored less frequently.
How does the Green Card application process work at ASARCO?
ASARCO typically sponsors Green Cards through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories. The process begins with PERM labor certification, where the company documents that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Once PERM is certified, ASARCO files an I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf, and you then wait for a visa number to become available before filing for adjustment of status.
How long does the Green Card process take at ASARCO?
The timeline depends on your visa category and country of birth. PERM certification alone can take 12 to 18 months. After that, EB-2 and EB-3 wait times vary widely, from under a year for many countries to a decade or more for applicants born in India or China due to per-country backlogs. Starting early in your nonimmigrant status is strongly advised.
How do I improve my chances of getting Green Card sponsorship at ASARCO?
Focus on roles where your qualifications are hard to replicate locally, such as mine engineering or environmental permitting. Demonstrate long-term commitment to the company's operations during the hiring process. Migrate Mate can help you identify open positions at ASARCO and other verified Green Card sponsors in the Mining & Natural Resources sector, so you apply where sponsorship is actually available.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at ASARCO?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
