Align your portfolio to Gensler's practice areas
Gensler organizes work across practice areas like workplace, hospitality, and urban design. Structure your portfolio to mirror their published project types. USCIS evaluates specialty occupation fit, so demonstrating direct alignment strengthens both your offer letter and downstream Green Card petition.
Understand which EB pathway fits your profile
Gensler files across EB-2 and EB-3 categories depending on role seniority and degree requirements. Senior architects and specialists with advanced degrees typically qualify for EB-2, while EB-3 covers roles requiring a standard bachelor's. Ask your recruiter which category applies before accepting an offer.
Request PERM filing timelines during offer negotiations
PERM labor certification through DOL is the first step for most Gensler Green Card cases and takes months before USCIS ever sees your petition. Negotiate a written timeline commitment at the offer stage so you're not waiting years before the process formally begins.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC prevailing wages
PERM requires your offered wage to meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify your offer before signing. A salary below the threshold will stall your PERM filing regardless of how strong your credentials are.
Search Gensler's verified sponsorship history on Migrate Mate
Before applying, use Migrate Mate to review Gensler's Green Card filing history by role and office location. Knowing which teams and job titles have historically received sponsorship helps you target the right positions and ask informed questions during interviews.
Document licensed and credentialed roles carefully
Architecture roles at Gensler often require state licensure or AXP completion. USCIS scrutinizes whether your credentials match the specialty occupation definition at the EB-2 level. Compile your licensure records, degree transcripts, and any NCARB documentation before your employer initiates the petition.
Gensler Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Gensler sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Gensler sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying international employees in architecture, design, and related technical roles. Sponsorship is typically available for staff who have demonstrated sustained performance and hold positions that meet specialty occupation standards under USCIS guidelines. You'll want to raise the topic with your manager or HR contact once you're established in your role.
Which roles at Gensler are most likely to receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Gensler most commonly supports licensed architects, interior designers, urban planners, and technical project managers. Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field are the strongest candidates. Support and administrative roles are less likely to qualify under the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies to EB-2 and EB-3 petitions.
How do I start the Green Card process at Gensler?
The process typically begins with your employer initiating PERM labor certification through DOL, which involves advertising the position to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Once PERM is certified, Gensler files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf. Your involvement at the PERM stage is limited, but you should ensure your job duties and credentials are accurately documented from day one.
How long does the Green Card process take for Gensler employees?
Total timelines vary significantly depending on your country of birth and the EB category your role qualifies for. PERM certification alone can take six months to over a year. For applicants born in countries with visa backlogs, the wait after I-140 approval can extend years further. Discussing your priority date situation with Gensler's immigration team early helps you plan realistically.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Gensler?
Migrate Mate lists open positions at Gensler filtered by verified Green Card sponsorship history, so you can focus on roles where sponsorship is a realistic outcome rather than a hope. Searching by practice area and office location helps narrow results to teams where Gensler has an established track record of supporting permanent residency for international hires.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Gensler?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
