At Hot Topic, we’re passionate about a few things: music, pop culture, and creating the most amazing in-store experience for our customers and employees.
We’re on the search for a Store Manager that will be at the forefront of bringing the fandom to life. You’ll lead the store in achieving store objectives with regards to hitting sales targets, recruiting, development, and performance management. You’ll be a retail maverick that can handle anything that comes your way. You’ll be a believer in developing talent and providing the best customer service in the mall. In short, you’re a superhero.
- Ensure that your store achieves the sales plan and/or comp sales goals. It’s not all about the Benjamins, but then it kind of is
- Recruit, develop, and retain a super collaborative and passionate team to run your store alongside you
- You’re the leader of the band, and you love to create buzz and customer engagement through staying connected on social media, store web applications, and clienteling
- Lead an operationally sound business; you’ll bring the right balance of organizational structure, delegation & autonomy, and customer first selling practices
- Keep watch (like the Night’s Watch) on shrink/loss prevention, payroll hours, schedules, and external factors that will affect business
- Collaboratively communicate with retail leadership and HQ partners on trends & customer feedback
- Run sales reports and use data to help guide your strategy to hit sales targets
- You’ve got the keys to the kingdom, and you’re not afraid to use them! You’re willing to adapt to new technologies, communicate company policies & procedures, and control supply ownership (spending only as needed)
- Deliver the goods - you’ll merchandise the store in a compelling way, leveraging planograms as a guide, while launching all promos on time
- Every Fellowship needs a Gandalf! Ensure that you’re continually building a bench of equally talented, passionate staff through mentorship, recognition, and feedback
- At least 1-2 years of retail store management experience; you’ve led teams to success and want to experience more of it. You’ll have skills to pay the bills: communication, recruiting, and operations (payroll, reporting, scheduling, merchandising)
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent. If you have a degree, even better
- Roll with the punches! Retail is a fast-changing industry and you like catching curveballs thrown your way
- Open-minded and inquisitive regarding pop culture fandoms & music trends
- The usual retail stuff (with or without reasonable accommodation): able to navigate your way around the store, merchandise product utilizing approved store equipment, and pack and unpack boxes of awesome merch that may weigh up to 50 pounds
Please note the pay range for this position starts as listed in the job posting, but other factors such as an individual’s education, location, meeting the minimum job requirements for the role, training and experience, will determine the final salary for potential new hires.

Job Roles at Hot Topic
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Hot Topic Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target Corporate and Technical Roles
Hot Topic's Green Card sponsorship tends to concentrate in corporate functions like IT, finance, and merchandising rather than retail store positions. Focus your search on headquarters-based roles where specialized skills are harder to source domestically.
Demonstrate Skills That Are Hard to Source Locally
Green Card sponsorship requires employers to prove no qualified U.S. worker is available. In Fashion & Apparel, expertise in areas like supply chain technology, data analytics, or specialized design can strengthen the PERM labor certification case significantly.
Raise Sponsorship Early in the Interview Process
Don't wait until an offer to discuss Green Card sponsorship. Asking during later interview rounds signals seriousness and gives Hot Topic's HR team time to assess whether the role qualifies, avoiding late-stage surprises for both sides.
Search Verified Sponsorship Listings
Finding Green Card sponsors in Fashion & Apparel takes research. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you prioritize Hot Topic openings and similar employers worth pursuing.
Be Patient With PERM and USCIS Timelines
Green Card processing through PERM labor certification followed by USCIS petition review takes time. Starting conversations with Hot Topic about sponsorship early in your tenure there gives the process the runway it realistically needs.

Does Hot Topic sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Hot Topic sponsors Green Card visas for select positions, primarily through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories. Sponsorship is not available for all roles and tends to focus on corporate and specialized functions rather than retail store positions. Candidates should confirm sponsorship eligibility directly with Hot Topic's recruiting team during the hiring process.
Which departments at Hot Topic are most likely to offer Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Hot Topic is most commonly associated with corporate functions such as information technology, finance, merchandising, and supply chain. These departments require specialized skills that can support the PERM labor certification process. Retail and hourly store roles are generally not included in Hot Topic's Green Card sponsorship program.
How do I apply for Green Card sponsorship at Hot Topic?
Green Card sponsorship at Hot Topic is employer-initiated, meaning the company must agree to sponsor you rather than you filing independently. After securing a qualifying role, Hot Topic's HR and legal team typically begins the PERM labor certification process with the Department of Labor, followed by an immigrant visa petition with USCIS. Raising the topic professionally during late-stage interviews is the right time to start that conversation.
How long does the Green Card process take at Hot Topic?
The Green Card process through an employer like Hot Topic generally takes several years from start to finish. PERM labor certification alone can take over a year depending on Department of Labor processing times, followed by USCIS petition review and, for some nationalities, a potentially long wait in the visa queue. Starting the process as early as possible in your employment is strongly advisable.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Hot Topic and similar companies?
The most effective approach is to search specifically for roles at companies with a verified Green Card sponsorship history in Fashion & Apparel. Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by real sponsorship history, so you can identify Hot Topic openings and comparable employers that have actually sponsored Green Cards rather than relying on companies that only claim they might. Targeting verified sponsors saves significant time in your job search.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Hot Topic?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
