Job Roles at Johnson Controls
How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Johnson Controls Green Card Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target engineering and technical roles
Johnson Controls's Green Card sponsorships are concentrated in engineering, controls, and operations functions tied to its manufacturing and building systems business. Roles requiring specialized technical degrees tend to have the strongest path to employer-sponsored permanent residence.
Understand the PERM labor certification timeline
The Green Card process at large manufacturers like Johnson Controls typically begins with PERM labor certification through the Department of Labor, which can take a year or more before USCIS petition filing even begins. Build your timeline expectations accordingly.
Look for roles in divisions with demonstrated sponsorship history
Johnson Controls's building efficiency, HVAC, fire safety, and digital solutions divisions have active hiring in technical roles. Focusing your search on these areas improves your odds of landing a position where Green Card sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship opportunities
Not every job listing at Johnson Controls will mention visa sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces verified Green Card sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus your applications on roles where sponsorship is already established.
Raise sponsorship early in the offer negotiation
At a company the size of Johnson Controls, immigration decisions involve HR, legal, and business unit approval. Confirming Green Card sponsorship as part of your offer discussions, rather than after onboarding, avoids delays and sets clear expectations with your hiring team.

Does Johnson Controls sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Johnson Controls sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying employees in technical, engineering, and professional roles across its U.S. operations. Sponsorship is not automatic with every hire, but the company has an established immigration program and works with legal counsel to support eligible employees through the PERM and USCIS petition process.
Which roles and departments at Johnson Controls typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at Johnson Controls is most common in engineering disciplines, software development, controls and automation, and operations management within its manufacturing and building technology divisions. Roles requiring a specific bachelor's or advanced degree in a technical field are the strongest candidates for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship.
How does the Green Card application process work at Johnson Controls?
Johnson Controls follows the standard employer-sponsored Green Card process: PERM labor certification with the Department of Labor, followed by an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS, and finally adjustment of status or consular processing. The company's HR and legal teams manage the process, but employees should stay proactive in tracking their case and priority date movement.
How long does it take to get a Green Card through Johnson Controls?
The timeline depends on your nationality and the employment-based category. PERM certification alone can take one to two years. For Indian and Chinese nationals in EB-2 or EB-3, visa backlogs can extend the total wait significantly beyond the petition stage. Nationals from other countries in EB-3 or EB-2 generally see shorter overall timelines once PERM is complete.
How do I find Green Card jobs at Johnson Controls?
Search Johnson Controls's careers page directly and filter for roles in engineering, software, and technical operations. Migrate Mate is also a useful starting point because it identifies employers with verified Green Card sponsorship histories, letting you confirm Johnson Controls is actively sponsoring before you apply. Prioritize roles where your degree field aligns closely with the job description.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Johnson Controls?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
